It appears the genesis of the racial divide was begun by a sports writer who has a limited following. Price picked up on the original comment and enhanced the comment by re-Tweeting (if that is the proper term) seemingly in agreement.

I can attest to that. It is the reason why I sought political asylum here in the south. The ONLY times I have ever set foot back in that liberal hellhole was for weddings or funerals.
The nail in the coffin for me was the 1992 election which was my first time voting after joining the military and finding out my ballot was likely never counted because I could not in good conscience vote for a democrat (who was running unopposed), and with the punch cards you HAD to vote on every race for the ballot to count.
Not to mention my high school being cowed into changing their mascot from an Indian (exactly like this: http://www.sportslogos.net/logos/view/1145/Milwaukee_Braves/1957/Alternate_Logo) to some crossdressing Johnny Depp pirate looking thing.
