Democratic presidential candidate Cory Booker is pitching a sweeping gun control agenda with more than a dozen specific elements, marking his second policy rollout in three weeks as he looks for a breakthrough moment in the crowded 2020 primary. The New Jersey senator's plan to curb gun violence centers on the creation of a national license required for all firearm owners, which would include an interview and mandatory completion of safety training. A summary released Monday by Booker's campaign says among the other elements of the gun control platform are universal background checks for gun buyers and the reinstitution of a ban on assault weapons and high-capacity firearm magazines.

If constitutional rights can be subject to a Federal licensing scheme, why not have a Federal license for journalists, which can only be obtained after proper training and an interview to assure the applicants objectivity.
Spartacus should be forced to obtain a license to run for office.
It’s cute that they think anyone is going to comply with their dictats. They don’t believe in the rule of law, they don’t believe in equality under the law, or any other bedrock principle.
They DO of course, believe everyone should follow whatever nonsense they pull out of their ass. Go to hell.
The Constitution is the license. The Declaration Of Independence is the bail if they try arresting
Uh, gentleman?
The goal is to take guns from honest, law-abiding, non-violent people and leave them in the hands of violent criminals so they can waltz right in and take what they want from their “oppressors.”
CONgress——CONvict———
Once the criminals have all registered their guns the Government can seize them and there will no more violence in the society. There will be a victory parade with fairies mounted on unicorns
“Uh, gentleman?”
Using the term as it is used in the legislative halls where words mean nothing.
If only these idiots would read the Constitution first, it would save the country time and money.
Like anyone with two brain cells to rub together would apply for one. Talk about painting a target on your back. Sheesh!
:-) Got it.
Cory Booker is an ignorant asshat. He’s probably never heard of Haynes vs United States.
Because of Haynes vs United States, his national license proposal, even if passed, will never apply to convicted felons who are not legally permitted to own a firearm. Only people who are legally permitted to own firearms can ever be prosecuted under such a licensing scheme.
Yeah, that’ll stop the gangbangers.

Hey there, Spartacus, I saw what you said and have something to say in return: the Constitution specifically says that, “...the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.” How does that square, logically or legally, with forcing us to get (and, of course, pay for) a license to exercise those rights? You know the answer, we know that you know it.
Additionally, we know WHY you’re proposing this kind of a law - to register every gun owner, and their guns, and to gradually make it so expensive to own guns that most won’t...and that’s actually your goal, isn’t it? To either make it too burdensome to own guns...or, in the final analysis, to seize guns from ordinary citizens.
So much for “shall not be infringed” under a Democrat. ANY Democrat.
I agree that all Democrats and minorities should register their weapons. Caucasians and Republicans should be exempt.
Make ANY gun crime a FEDERAL offense
Punishable by TEN YEARS mandatory prison time.
Any problem? RIGHT...politicians with no cajones.
