Gov. Andrew Cuomos proposed geriatric parole program - which would entitle some state prisoners 55 or older who have served at least half their sentence to parole hearings - is one such concern to ONeill, though proponents say its humane and could save the state money on medical care.
Most people in New York City and across the nation are really good people, said ONeill. But theres a certain percentage of the population that just cant abide by societys rules, and they do very bad things and they need to stay in prison.

ONeill said Sunday he doesnt want people to be jailed on minor offenses due to economic issues but was concerned over rollout.

I like them but they’re not worth a multi hour drive to see :)
Somebody will be paying for their health care at 55 and it isnt them.
55 years old is not ‘geriatric’.
They could have never punished the Mafia types if this new coddling had been in effect, as most were like over 75 years old when they were finally caught.
Remember that prisoners spend a lot of time exercising. New releases I’ve seen are muscular and strong. That makes them very dangerous to the general public.
