The Motion Picture Association of America, the film industry’s board of review, today recommended the re-examination of the British made film ”Oliver Twist” with a view to having deletions and changes made which would remove objections to the firm voiced by many Jewish and other groups, the Jewish Telegraphic Agency learned today.

In [the USA] the Anti-Defamation League of B’nai B’rith and other Jewish groups protested the scheduled showing of the film on the grounds that one of its central characters, Fagin, was portrayed in an anti-Semitic manner and would inspire anti-Jewish sentiment.
In the British zone of Germany and other places where the film was shown public demonstrations were held in protest.
Recently, several groups in this country, including the New York Chapter of the American Council for Judaism, have called for lifting of the ban on ”Oliver Twist” on the grounds that the prohibition violates the Bill of Rights.

Why is the Anti-Defamation League wasting its time condemning a fictional character, Fagin, for portraying a Jew in an unflattering light when the New York Times goes uncondemned for portraying the leader of the Jewish State of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, as a dog in a blatantly anti-Semitic cartoon?
The Jews must feel their stranglehold on the “perpetually offended” title slipping.
The Christian Minister in that scene is certainly no shining saint.

I assume all freepers know that the ADL is no longer concerned with antisemitism. It’s solely devoted to combatting anti-Leftism. Its strong interest in combatting 19th century antisemitism in fiction is a clear indication of its lack of a grasp of reality where Jew hatred, Christianity hatred and hatred of Western Civilization is in full flower. Ignore these idiots.
My Granddaughter just performed in “Oliver”. She is young enough that she portrayed a boy.
They've spent the past fifty years mocking and portraying as ignorant bumpkins the people who support Israel but lavishly funding the very same democrat fascist machine that has for over a hundred years been dedicated getting rid of Jews in the US just as soon as they're finished getting rid of blacks.
I don't recall a major outpouring of sympathy and aid after the Christians in a small church were shot up killing many only to be stopped by a neighbor with an AR15, but let a single Muzzie or Jew get shot and it's a massacre. The fact that they moan over the rights of Hagar's family line but not Christians speaks volumes.

One of my all time favorite movies/musicals right behind The Sound of Music.

This is an old story. I do believe some of the images within the film were removed - mostly profiles of Alec Guinness. I could be wrong. A brilliant adaptation if anyone hasn’t seen it. A David Lean movie.
