Things continue to intensify in Venezuela as Nicolas Maduro's people run over opposition protestors with armed vehicles and spray crowds with live ammunition. National Security Advisor John Bolton on Tuesday said "all options are on the table" as far as United States' intervention goes, The Hill reported.
We want as our principle objective the peaceful transfer of power, but I will say again as the president has said from the outset ... all options are on the table, Bolton said. "Over 40 people have been killed by the Maduro regime in the course of these protests."
The Western hemisphere recognizes Juan Guaidó as Venezuela's legitimate president, despite dictator Nicolas Maduro's continued reign.
We recognize Juan Guaidó as the legitimate interim president of Venezuela. And just as it's not a coup when the president of the United States gives an order to the Department of Defense, it's not a coup for Juan Guaidó to try and take command of the Venezuelan military.
According to Bolton, Defense Minister Vladimir Padrino; Venezuelas Supreme Tribunal of Justice President Maikel Moreno Pérez; and Venezuelas Directorate General of Military Counter-Intelligence Commander Ivan Rafael Hernandez Dala previously said Maduro needed to be ousted. They supported Guaidó as the country's replacement.
All agreed that Maduro had to go. They need to be able to act this afternoon or this evening to help bring other military forces to the side of the interim president, Bolton said. We think its still very important for key figures in the regime who have been talking to the opposition over these last three months to make good on their commitments to achieve the peaceful transfer of power."
The balance of power depends on Venezuelan's other top military leaders taking a firm stand in making sure Guaidó is put in power. This has been a top priority of the Trump administration.
Its a very delicate moment, Bolton said. I want to stress again that the president wants to see a peaceful transfer of power from Maduro to Guaidó. The possibility still exists if enough figures depart from the regime and support the opposition and thats what wed like to see.
Is that you, Vlad?
NOT our problem. We stopped giving a damn about the Monroe Doctrine decades ago.

From 2014-2015...
RIO DE JANEIRO, Brazil -- Russia's push into Ukraine has put many on edge. But less known is that Russia is also strengthening its military links south of the Rio Grande and re-establishing itself as a power in the region.
Vladimir Putin has been strengthening military links here, and Russia is now the largest arms dealer to governments in Latin America, surpassing the United States.
Russia has even floated the possibility of building new military bases in Cuba, Venezuela and Nicaragua, and putting its warships permanently in the Caribbean.
In the midst of the Ukraine crisis, Russia's top diplomat Sergei Lavrov recently visited Cuba, Peru, Chile, and Nicaragua, where he announced that Russia would also pour money into the new Central American canal project. ..."

Russia agreed to provide military training for three leftist regimes in Latin America and increase military visits and exercises following a visit last week to the region by Moscow's Defense Minister Sergei Shoygu, Pentagon officials said.
Shoygu met with defense and military leaders in Cuba, Venezuela, and Nicaragua and signed several agreements on warship visits and military training during the visit, which ran from Feb. 11 to 14. It is not clear whether any new arms deals were completed during the visit.
Defense officials said the Russian leader is seeking bases in the region for strategic bomber flights that Shoygu recently promised would include flights over the Gulf of Mexico and Caribbean.

Dubya could have prevented all this but
he opted to honor an agreement with a
government of thugs that was no longer
in existence.
Dubya
************
Dubya was weak. He also did nothing to secure our southern border, among other things.
The world only respects one thing: strength.
Dozens of supporters of opposition leader Juan Guaido converged Tuesday on the now-shuttered Venezuelan embassy in Washington, clashing with pro-regime activists who have been camped out at the building for weeks in support of embattled Nicolas Maduro.
.... In Washington, flag-waving and national-anthem singing demonstrators, many of whom were born in Venezuela, quickly outnumbered those from the anti-war group Code Pink gathered to support Maduro's regime.
.... "This group the Code Pink has taken the embassy," Gandullia said. "We want to enter. We want to take over. And demonstrate that it belongs to us." Activists from Code Pink, which protests U.S. support for Guaido, have been living and protesting at the embassy for weeks.
.... In interviews, these protesters emphasized that they are from Venezuela unlike many of the Code Pink protesters.
"Those people right there, theyre not Venezuelan. They dont have a passport. They dont have our IDs," ....
"They are communists, socialists with Maduro," he added. "Im anti-Maduro. And Im here representing my people."

Code Pink 'Bundles' for Barack, 4/14/2008
"The co-founder of the radical anti-war group Code Pink [Jodie Evans] has bundled more than $50,000 for Sen. Barack Obamas presidential campaign, and pro-troops groups are demanding that he return the money."

The Strong Horse. Yup. I’m afraid
a country that thinks water boarding,
a procedure which leaves you uninjured,
is torture, may be too compassionate to
survive.
The Mexican cartels control our border now. It appears they view our compassion as weakness. And to a large extent they are right. We have become neurotic and fearful of criticism. That seems to override even our need for self preservation.
My skepticism over whether the cartels have the military on their payroll has lessened some since American soldiers were stripped of their weapons on American soil my Mexican troops. I wonder if they escort the drug carriers.
Has the gutless Bolton ever worn a uniform in combat in one of the wars he always starts for the swamp?
Screw Venezuela and everyone in it. Not worth one drop of U.S. blood. Fem. Solve your own problems.
It looks like you do too

No, I just look at more dimensions of problems than you do.
AOL looks at more dimensions, like you. She also refuses to look at the cost dimension, just like you. Big spenders are the same, whether they want to spend on medicare or war. Either way they don’t want to talk about dollars and cents.
“All options except non-intervention, apparently.”
Well said.
Who is Anya Parampil that was just on Tucker, Fox News?
She was a pro Madera emotional nut job.
In case you were not aware, the regime already changed - constitutionally and legally. There is now a usurper in power, backed by other hostile nations from within and outside our hemisphere.
If this coup fails, it will be portrayed as Trump’s “Bay of Pigs”
Apparently some people long for the days of the Cold War with the Soviet Union but this time letting the Soviets win. Imagine if we refused to intervene and just let them spread their power and influence everywhere including right in our own backyards without any push back. This is not a local matter for the Venezuelan people anymore...it hasn’t been for some time. Ignorance is bliss, and some people commenting here are on Cloud 9 - they don’t even know what they are talking about in the least, but have formed strong opinions about it. Like arguing with a Leftist - reality doesn’t apply to their analysis in the least.
The guys with the guns seem to disagree.
Allende wasn't removed constitutionally.
Their little boys are across the water starving people.
All so their leader can have more money.
Send those poor Cuban boys home!
Dont make their mommies cry for them!
Late this afternoon, Trump threatened a blockade of Cuba if Cuban troops aren't extracted.
