A Tesla Model 3 emits more carbon dioxide emissions than a Mercedes C220d diesel sedan, according to a new study by German think tank IFO. That's right, the supposedly 'green' electric car of the future so touted by the wealthy virtue-signalers is actually filthier than your garden-variety diesel-powered sedan.

The Wall Street Journal has an editorial about it, and the Daily Caller has some additional context. DC's Michael Bastasch lays it out with:

When the CO2 emissions from battery production is included, electric cars, like Teslas, are "in the best case, slightly higher than those of a diesel engine, and are otherwise much higher," reads a release from the German think tank IFO.

Everything must be included in figuring those numbers. Unless the zero emissions vehicles are made of all natural items, they AIN'T zero emissions. Wonder what the look on the faces of the owners would be when it's replace battery time!? Disposal fees and new battery costs.

Except that CO2 is not "filthy." It is the greenest of substances. We now have the technical ability to actually remove CO2 from the atmosphere to make fuel. If we do not take care the technology and its sisters will be hugely promoted and successful and CO2 will decrease just as we are entering a Solar caused Little Ice Age, a Dalton Minimum in which the crops will fail worldwide and famine will threaten. That will be exacerbated by CO2 removal and with it the efforts to seed the atmosphere to reflect away sunlight from the earth to prevent the mythical Global Warming.
Such efforts, once well underway will not cease once the deadly consequences are manifest. Population reduction will become a reality and with it collapse of economies and technology.

Everybody forgets that the original, underlying raison d’être for EVs was to get real air pollution (primarily smog-causing NOx emissions) out of cities. It didn’t matter that overall lifecycle emissions were about the same as conventional ICE powered gasoline automobiles. The objective was to clean up metro area air.

The the enviro kooks changed the objective to preventing global warming by reducing CO2 emissions. That was always a fallacy for the reasons stated in this study.
