No, I simply responded to someone who claimed that religion is the antidote to men’s desire to sexually exploit young girls. As I specifically mentioned Old Testament (thus Jewish) practices, and modern day Islamic ones, I don’t know how you decided it was an anti-Christian diatribe. Perhaps you honed your debating techniques at the bowling alley, where all the pins look the same?
Wrong.
"Religion" is not the antidote to a man's corrupted fallen nature.
Christ is.
Mankind needs a regenerated nature, not a religious system of works to abuse. Religious systems do not provide the heart change necessary. They just provide the outward actions to fuel self-righteousness.
God did not create Eve for Adam to be his property, and while men have abused women throughout the ages, the reverse is true. Women are not fully innocent either.
I also find it ironic that your protests are so beautifully building the case of a moral framework outside of man to which to appeal, one that is actually based on the Judeo-Christian worldview, and proves the need for redemption.
Now that you've settled the fact that man is inherently corrupt and tends towards evil, would you care to explain where the GOOD comes from?
WHY are there good men who don't abuse their wives and suppress them?
Why are there good men who fight against the sexual exploitation of women and children?
Why are there good men who fight against the evils of slavery of all kinds?
I know many people who hate God argue that evil if proof that God does not exist. But if evil is so pervasive and so ingrained to man as you claim, now YOU are in the position of explaining, or trying to explain, where good comes from.
So have at it.
BTW, equating Judaism, and by implication Christianity, with Islam, is a losing proposition for you.
Do you really want to go there?
Because your knowledge of Judaism is sorely lacking if you are going to equate it to islam.
It's impossible that you have read the scriptures completely and chronologically with anything resembling an open mind.
Perhaps you are a rape survivor and need a support group. Alternately, perhaps you have been painfully rejected by the opposite sex, or have self-sabotaging habits regarding the opposite sex, and need individual therapy.
Contempt for "duh patriarchy" is not a solution for the deep-seated fears underlying your cynicism. May the Lord help you to find paths to healing.
