Okay, so because I am sickened by this story about thousands and thousands of girls being trafficked, raped, beaten, and often murdered... it’s because I was hurt “somewhere” in my history. The male rapist is to be put to death. It is a death penalty crime.
As for Deut 22:28 that is not rape. The man is held responsible as the aggressor/seducer; this is in juxtaposition as against a forcible rape. Rather than the death penalty in this case marriage is the best option as the woman has been humbled. Virginity is important and this woman’s is gone. The bride price is to be paid - and a bride price indicates the woman has value and her family is suffering a loss.
What an interpretation you have - women are prizes and passed around like candy? Hardly. God’s law protects and defends women. Under a patriarchal system the male head of house makes decisions for the family bit his children (male or female) are Under his control. Boys AND girls I might add. But not sex slaves for heaven’s sakes.
Totally agree. It is on a par with the media's scary street crime and violence statistics being averaged out over all races, when the FBI tracking by race tells a very different story.

God sent an angel telling Hagar to return to Abraham. Clearly the God of the Old Testament had no problem with women being sexual chattel. You are in denial.

Read the previous verses. He's put to death whether she is willing or not willing. Her willingness does not matter. What matters is that he's violated ANOTHER MAN'S PROPERTY. If she's single, he can marry her. Rape or no.
It doesn’t say it’s because she is another man’s property. You are imposing that on the text.
A woman is generally under her fathers headship or her husband’s headship. Sometimes they are not, like Naomi and Ruth, due to deaths or perhaps abandonment. Regardless being under the headship of your dad or husband does not mean they OWN you.
