Hundreds of migrants board 'the Beast' train in Mexico in risky move to get closer to US border
[NOTE: "Risky" is obviously due to the fact that hundreds are riding on the OUTSIDE of the train, as the photos show.]
.... The decision to board the train en masse comes after a breakout of migrants from a troubled immigration detention center in the southern border city of Tapachula on Thursday night.
Mexico’s National Immigration Institute said the mass escape, which appears to be the largest in recent memory, involved around 1,300 Cuban migrants. ....
Migration authorities said nearly 400 migrants boarded the train.....

President Trump has been pressuring Mexico ... even threatening to close down the border if President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador doesn’t stop illegal migrants from coming to the U.S. border.
Mexico has largely been responsive to the pressure, stepping up the efforts to detain the migrants and deport them back home.
But such crackdown also led to migrants using the train ... this way dozens of police and immigration checkpoints along the Mexican highways can be avoided...
The train has been used by migrants in the past, but it became ignored in recent years because of the dangers of the journey, including death or lost limbs ....
“It's going to go back to the way it was, the (Mexican) government doesn't want them to be seen. If the migrants move quietly like a stream of little ants, they'll allow them to, but they are not going to allow them to move through Mexico publicly or massively,” he added.

Cubans have been coming across this border since Obama ended the “wet feet, dry feet” rules for them. Not sure why they are coming this way, it still makes no sense to me but they sure do.
Where will it attempt entry? Where? It’s not like it has to go on rails, or anything. Nothing more anyone can do./s

In the hundreds of postings here in Free Republic rarely is this brought up. It’s Known As Reciprocity. We should be treating anybody illegally crossing the Mexican border into the US the way the Mexican’s do treat any American illegally doing the same.crossing into Mexico. Entry denied fined and possible imprisonment before getting kicked out.
It’s time we consider illegal entry by any person who is a non Mexican citizen illegally entering the United States through the US Mexican border a defacto Mexican citizen with limited Mexican constitutional rights subject to their laws while transiting. As well as any Mexican citizen entering illegally exempting those who do so legally and meet US citizenship requirements.
Today’s so called democrats insist Americans must allow illegals storm in here by the hundreds of thousands despite their cost to us citizens. Claiming benefits are cheap labor which winds up removing PT job opportunities for citizens including teenagers and full time work for blacks. That open door sanctuary policy is suddenly requiring billion$ in tax dollars,which is never enough. Tax money that should be going to our citizens for their sustenance,health,education,and housing even infrastructure are being diverted to illegal’s needs. But Americans must do the tax flagellating punishment because we’re the very rich United States and must divert those billion$ to fill the needs of those poor illegals plus give them the right to vote. Sustained by our tax money which our children’s children if not aborted will be paying for.
What never gets mentioned in all of this is the lacking reciprocal treatment. If we applied that policy . Would this continue ?

Every once in a while, a tree branch or a bump takes one off.
This is actually an indicator of progress. Just a few weeks ago the caravans were enjoying much safer and more comfortable transportation.
They appear to have been driven back to hitching on the dangerous train, because of a series of police checkpoints and crackdowns on the roads.
The Mexican police have mounted a big effort, in response to the border closure and auto tariff threats. They have focused a cordon across the narrowest part of the Mexican isthmus, between the States of Oaxaca and Chiapas, where roads are further channelized along the coasts by the central mountains.
Reportedly, they will now block any further organized caravans there. A huge caravan (some say 10,000) was the last one through, and is just making it to Mexico City, where they usually lay up for a few days.
I agree, no killing unless in self defense, destroy rail road bridges, maybe all bridges, when no one is on them. It will hurt Mexico badly of course but maybe that is good; we will be in a state of war then and completely wipe out the cartels.

I agree. This illegal alien problem was getting old 20 years ago. I’m starting to feel that we’re being played by both sides. Maybe cause it’s too early in the morning and maybe cause I’m getting too old for this. There’s only one solution. Round em up. Ship em out.
