Also true.

The plain TRUTH is that the REVISIONISTS are STATISTS & care only for what is now accepted as “fact” & makes the “sheeple” feel comfortable with the knowing lies that they have been told, even when those “facts” are nothing more than uninformed opinions. “created facts” (Read: FICTION) & mindless drivel.

In “modern America” telling lies is considered “OK” if it makes the audience “feel good” about the “prevailing popular view”.
(When I was in grad school in the 1970s, “Revisionists” were thought to be “grasping at straws” & were often referred to as “those lunatics”. - In the 21st century, the Revisionist far left has succeeded in “shouting down” the traditional scholars at most every “institution of higher learning” by claiming that everyone who disagrees with their LEFTIST (some would say: COMMUNIST/Anti-American) opinions are “racists”, “homophobes”, “NAZIS” and/or “white nationalists”.)

Interesting exercise in opinion.

However, the issue is not the Tenth Amendment when referring to that conflict of the 1860s; the constitution adopted by the seceding states made that utterly plain.

You seem to think that you are “the controlling authority” on this forum, rather than just ONE ordinary member among many.
(Fyi, how long that a person has been on any internet forum has nothing whatever to do with their education/knowledge/facts & whether or not that their stated opinions are wise, well-founded, uneducated, simplistic and/or foolish.)

As I said, I wish you well in “running to tattle” to management to shut me or any other forum member down. - We’ll see if TRUTH overcomes your opinion of what is “politically correct” to state on this forum in 2019.

Btw, I’m NOT going to let you get away with calling me (or dismissing my views as) a “Revisionist”, as “terms of art” in scholarship have fixed/well-known meanings.
As a “traditionalist” in historiography, I state that it is YOU who is a Revisionist (if anyone here is), as “we traditionals” are even in 2019 considered, by most historians, to be if “a bit old-fashioned”, at least the keepers of historical FACT..

Be sure to tell everyone how your “running to tattle to management” works out for you, given your silly threats.

Yours, TMN78247

The words of the CSA constitution stand against your assertions. The fact that people fought for that constitution further does so.

And you are still attacking people for no reason.

YOU are the person who is “attacking people” & ABESENT just cause, if anyone is.

Have you “run to tattle” about me to management yet??
(I urge you to do so & see what happens TO YOU for your silly crusade against TRUTH & freedom of speech.)

Btw, did you bother to read and understand what I said about the “plantation elites” who authored the CSA Constitution & about how little that anyone but the elites cared about what they thought/felt/believed/wanted??

Had my “solidly working-class” ancestors won their war for freedom from the Union, the “planter elite” might well have been NEXT on the “list of Dixie’s enemies”, as those elitists OFTEN collaborated with the invading “BLUE PLAGUE”, in return for promises to “protect the ‘peculiar institution’, for the current slavers, forever”.
(Numerous such written promises, signed by High-ranking Yankee officers, to protect the slaver’s “human property” still exist, as the Union High Command cared NOTHING about “the plight of the slaves”. - The Union generals just wanted VICTORY & at any price, including the loss of “common decency”.)

Now your northern n*****’s a negro
You see he’s got his dignity
Down here we’re too ignorant to realize
That the North has set the n***** free
Yes he’s free to be put in a cage
In Harlem in New York City
And he’s free to be put in a cage
On the South Side of Chicago
And the West Side
And he’s free to be put in a cage
In Hough in Cleveland
And he’s free to be put in a cage
In East St. Louis
And he’s free to be put in a cage
In Fillmore in San Francisco
And he’s free to be put in a cage
In Roxbury in Boston
They’re gatherin’ ‘em up from miles around
Keepin’ the n*****s down

Personal attacks on long-established members

If that’s true, moderation is more capricious than I realized.

It’s safer to attack a 2015 if you’re a 2000?

What other bennies do you get?

Where I come from, saying “your knowledge of that subject is about as deep as a coat of cheap house-paint” is a personal attack; never mind your stereotyping attacks against Irish people, something that is of the left.

And your obscure “source” as “argumentum ad verecundiam” is a lack of proof of whatever you’re asserting, which seems to get more convoluted with each new post you make, with all due respect. Never mind the accusations of “death camps”, which are utterly absurd, with equal respect.

BTW, asserting a fight against “the Union” and its Constitution is implying there’s something wrong with the US Constitution as the Founding Fathers framed it. Compared to the CSA’s constitution, it’s a marvel of freedom. You have a lot of energy, I grant, which I can only suggest you dedicate to studying the Constitution.

IF I could give you advice, I’d urge you to “run to tattle” about what I’ve said on this forum.

I DARE YOU to do that & see what happens.
(Fyi, courageous people don’t keep making empty threats; instead, they act.- Otherwise, they LOOK foolish & childish.)

LOL at your empty threats, TMN78247

What I said about my G-G-G Aunt “Molly”, according to my late mother, who knew her in her girlhood, was 100% CORRECT.
(My mother LOVED her but understood that she was FAR from perfect & that such zealots “could be hard to love” at times.)

Mother said of her, “She was a red-headed HELLION, who loved her husband, children & Ireland FIERCELY & ‘woe into anyone’ who was foolish enough to ever criticize any of them.”

In her 70s & 80s, her “family pet name” of “PRETTY MOLLY” in her youth became, over time, “HARD MOLLY” for her political activities in support of Irish FREEDOM/the IRA and/or sometimes, “Our crazy lady”, who became evermore dedicated to Irish Freedom before her death.

Molly, or Mary Bronwen (nee-McGowan) Redfearn lived to be at least 106YO & died in the early 1920s. - Mother was not sure how old that she actually was at her passing, of “advanced age & infirmity”. “Aunt Molly” said that she was from County Down.

I’ve wondered if only her age prevented her being jailed for supporting/collecting money for the IRA’s Easter Rising.
(”Little old ladies” get away with lots of things.)

The IRA are communists, just for the record. They receive no support from any of my relatives in Ireland, I am happy to report. When I was a young kid in the 1970s, we had to be evacuated from Shannon Airport’s hotel due to a bomb scare caused by the IRA.

Not to mention, Ireland is still waking up to the fact that it surrendered its freedom to the German-led European Union back in 1972. All too slowly, however.

IF you do some research from the late 19th & early 20th Centuries, you will discover that the IRA was once simply a FREE IRELAND movement & NOT even “a leftist group” back then, though the English government certainly called them “terrorists”.
(Over time, groups can/do change radically. - For example, The Democrats Party was once “moderate, though left of center”; in 2019 it’s to the LEFT of the Socialists, imo.)

I’ve done more than my fair share of research. The Irish Republican Brotherhood was always a bastion of socialists. James Connolly was an open communist and a fellow traveler with Lenin.

As far as the Democrats go, way back in 1887 future Dem president Woodrow Wilson wrote that “socialism and democracy are almost, if not quite, one and the same” while at Princeton University in (guess where) New Jersey. That has been in practice among Democrats for a very long while, although they have favored the Fabian path to implementation versus the Marxian.

Yeah I was wondering what Murphy’s yankeefa freeper handle might be. lol.

You know I can see a future for the National Union Party, the one that won the Presidency in 1864. Version 2020 could feature a Haley-Murphy ticket

Thanks. I checked it out on Amazon, and the second of the two customer reviews complained about the relative lack of space in the book devoted to the CSA side https://www.amazon.com/Black-Blue-Gray-African-Americans/dp/0689806558

That said, a few paragraphs can tell a tremendous amount. The Mississippi Sables sound absolutely fascinating, and I’d love to pick up some sort of memorabilia relating to them as a conversation piece.

If I buy it, it will be on the strength of your recommendation.

History is both complicated and nuanced—getting people to appreciate that can be challenging.

Thanks.

Interesting exercise in opinion.

So, now I am supposed to believe that the words of the Founders who said what the Constitution meant when they ratified it meant nothing, but were only their "opinions?" The end result of your logic leads to the Living Constitution where politicians can alter interpretation of the Constitution to have it mean what they want it to. It may be your way of interpreting history, but it is not mine.

Please explain what you mean. The Tenth Amendment was/is part of the US Constitution. It applied/applies to all states in the Union. Explain to me how it doesn't apply to the right of a state to secede.
