Dozens of drivers have filed tort claims seeking money from the state of Indiana after their cars were damaged while driving on a 15-mile, pothole-afflicted section of Interstate 69.
The problematic stretch of highway extends between mile markers 219 in Pendleton and 234 in Daleville, The Star Press reported. Forty claimants are pursuing damages for repairs to brake calipers and rotors; rims and wheels; tires; improper wheel alignment; suspension way bars and other vehicle parts.

They didn’t know that roads get potholes? I don’t believe it.
Yup. Winter left our roads looking like moon craters. NASA could test rovers here.
states no longer use money and fees set aside for infrastructure, it's all diverted to social programs. Roads are a mess.
Potholes? Let me guess. Did our California governor
Newscum lend a freeway to Indiana?
Weve had wild temperature variations this past winter. 60 degree freeze thaw swings in 24 hours. Rinse and repeat. DOT has its work cut out for them.
I looked down into one of those Indy potholes and saw an entire homeless family camping down there.
Keep in mind Indiana is the most conservative state east of the Mississippi and north of the Mason Dixon line. If their infrastructure is deficient, what about deep blue states like California, New York and Massachusetts?
Who can afford to fix potholes when you have to provide lavish compensation packages to your government employees?
In Michigan they make drivers go through a more difficult process than amending the Constitution. They have to identify one particular pothole, and prove that it was once identified and ignored for I think it’s 90 days or something. With court style proof. They’ll lie and say it ws another pothole not proven to be identified. Then prove your loss with your thousands in damage receipts. Then they can appeal it. Crazy and fully corrupt.
That alone could cause overthrow of Michigan. People hate that system.
Also we paid for higher plate and tag fees, and extra fees at the gas pump for road work and NOW they have the Dem hag Governor Commie Whitmer who demands 45 cents a gallon MORE.
New York Roads are like Iraq's after the invasion bombing.
They never said that.
Potholes can be much deeper than they appear, especially if filled with water.
And sometimes there is no avoiding them because swerving would cause an accident.
For all the taxes we pay, motorists have the right to drive down a road without risking damaging their vehicles. It's the job of the DPW to maintain the roads for safe driving conditions, not motorists to avoid damaging their cars on poorly maintained roads that their taxes are paying the upkeep for.
I live around this area and the roads are car swallowers. It is a large construction zone, so it is being fixed. Extra lanes and all.
That said, they have lowered the speed limit in that area from 70 mph to 45 mph. People don’t slow down and it will be very hard on your car.
The odd thing is that they have done so much to repair I 69.
Much of it looks brand new. It takes time because it is a big project!
Well, the article didn’s say anything about piles of poop on the road, so I would guess not.
Same in my area. At least when the small cars get stuck in the bottom, they can save material by simply paving over the cars.
And all the gas tax that’s paid from the pump goes to...where?
Some states have meteorological or geological problems which make road maintenance a constant, and road repairs have to focus upon large concentrations of resources that move from place to place rather than it being realistically possible to perform repairs simultaneously across the region as a whole.
Sometimes wants or even needs collide with reality, and in those cases reality wins one hundred percent of the time.
Is Indiana still trying to get this road’s number changed?
One of their former Governors had complained that “I 69” is too suggestive.
In Kentucky if you damage a tire on a state road because of road quality you can contact the State with your paperwork and they will reimburse you. Most people don’t know this. I don’t know how any other damage besides tires figures in.
