Kushner says he'll present immigration plan to Trump in coming days
The Hill ^ | 04/23/19 | BRETT SAMUELS

White House senior adviser Jared Kushner said Tuesday that he's preparing an immigration plan to present to President Trump in the coming days. Kushner said at Time magazine's Time 100 Summit that he's put together "a very detailed proposal" that encompasses three major themes: improving border security, moving toward a so-called merit-based system and maintaining "our country’s humanitarian values."

Kushner said the border security aspect would look at using physical barriers and technology to "keep illegal goods and keep out people who are coming in illegally while also facilitating trade and the flow of legal people as quickly and as efficiently as possible.”

Kushner added that he'd like to see the U.S. immigration system give more weight to economic qualifications as opposed to family connections. He cited Canada and Australia as models for this approach.

The third point, he said, is that the administration would aim to "maintain our country’s humanitarian values."

"Kushner claimed the pitch has the support of multiple factions in the White House, including hard-liner Stephen Miller, who has been behind the administration's efforts to curb the flow of immigrants into the country and a recent leadership shakeup at the Department of Homeland Security."

Moving toward a merit-based system requires Congressional action. Good luck with that.

The Ivanka’s should both move back to NY.
And tend to family business.
Not government business.

If it was Miller's plan, maybe. But Kushner? It'll be a conglomeration of crap that has no chance of succeeding. I doubt his middle-east peace plan will be much different.

He’s counting on the Dems and enough RINOs to pass the massive-amnesty “comprehensive immigration reform” that Congress wouldn’t approve with a Democrat president if he can get his wife to deliver “Daddy” on the issue for political cover.

Javanka is the ruin of this presidency, both on policy and, eventually, on corruption.

Someone posted yesterday that being critical of Jared was antisemitic. That’s commie talk. I would like to think that the free republic has free thinkers. If Jared is a swarmy pencil necked son in law it doesn’t matter what religion he is. And some of us have sons with Jewish blood coursing through their veins.

If it’s true that Jared objected to Chris Christie heading up the transition because Christie prosecuted Jared’s father, then Jared should be in prison.

I’m no Chris Christie fan, but the way this administration was put together after his departure was a joke. Having been a governor, he would, at a minimum, helped Trump to understand what staffing an executive branch involved, and the worst of the Obama holdovers would have been gone at 12:01 on January 20, 2017.

H-1B’s will be the least of the issue. He’s gonna go for massively more immigration and amnesty.

Kushner is THE pox on this presidency. Javanka together steered “Daddy” into the initial, bad personnel decisions that led to the shackles Trump has had on his presidency for the last 27 months, and led to the loss of the House.

It is amazing that he has managed to get done the good he has and weather the attacks he has.

Kim Kardashian was bloviating this week about how she has connections to the WH, and when repeatedly press as to whether that included Trump himself, she said Jared and Ivanka.

She went on about how when there are issues coming out of the WH, which she said there so often are, she gets a hearing as to her perspective to influence that — and that immigration is her big issue.
