Never mind SJws, where was the male outcry in general? Whether it was the Catholic Church, Penn State, or this, it seems that there were plenty of "normal" males in a position to do something about this who did nothing.
I suspect a lot of those abused boys said nothing to anyone, for several reasons. I also suspect some abusers were responded to by normal males, in old school ways that caused THEM to say nothing, maybe even leave town.
I'd want to believe it too, but I see no indication that the men who knew about it did much about it. IIRC, in the case of Jerry Sandusky, it was women who finally reported him.
I also suspect some... is not equivalent to I also believe that many...
I didn’t mean that as a shot. I hate the thought that men could just stand by and do next to nothing, but after all that has come out the facts speak for themselves.
OK. I agree.
I guess its the same dynamic thats allowed leftism to flourish.
“In any large-number abuse scandal, I suspect that there are a LOT of false claims made in order to hitch onto the gravy train.”
While that is very true, I imagine the BSA must be VERY confidant the people whose names are being released are guilty as hell.
Otherwise they open themselves up to lawsuits from the unmasked pervs who would be all too ready to cry on camera and play the victim card.
Pretty sure the lawyers for the BSA triple checked every name and crossed every T and dotted every i. They would be fools not too.
That said, how many names are they NOT releasing due to lack of corroborating evidence? Quite a few I imagine.
Yes, homosexual males assaulting male children placed in their care.
The problem is how do they make sure? Out of the same sense of giving the victim the ultimate benefit of the doubt, they are likely basing evidence wholly on victim accusations. As you said, the risk that these are false are outweighed by the risk that they are true and not address. So every claim, no matter how tenuous and flimsy, must be treated as valid.
