Ret. Lt. Gen. Jerry Boykin stated to me right after Trump was elected that the newly-elected President “was going to have to go deep to get some real leadership (perhaps even down to the Major level).”
Boykin went on telling me that Pres. Trump might go after some newly “retired” officers (forcibly by Obama, et al during Benghazi, etc.) to get some reliable folks. Boykin said that the pc movement had been “ruining the leadership” for quite sometime (Clinton, “W” and especially Obama.). He confirmed what I had heard of male recruits being forced to wear high heels so they could “understand” the plight of their female counterparts!
This, of course, was before the traitors managed to ruin Mike Flynn’s career!
Do you think President Trump set the ROE? I am guessing he assumed soldiers would be ordered to defend themselves and the USA. Even in Afghanistan soldiers on base carry their weapons with an empty chamber. It wouldn’t surprise me much if it came out that our troops were not issued ammo while on the US border, or were issued a magazine of ammo and carried the weapons unloaded. I have been issued a sealed ammo can with magazines of ammo in it for guard duty and told not to break the seal unless it is an emergency before. It has been my experience that the Army is kind of stupid like that.

Fortunately there are enough clear thinkers left here to make spending time daily worthwhile.
But the increasing number of vacuous posters is making that situation tenuous.
President Trump wasn’t there, President Trump probably never wrote an ROE for this, and the US soldiers were armed with 9mm against Mexican machine guns.
The ROE is important, but I will “try” to survive to fight another day.

The Mexican military has been allowed to play shenanigans on our side of the border for decades...with Border Patrol, ranchers, others. I am not ready to lay that incident on Trump. From what I hear the Pentagon is giving the soldiers new ROEs because of that incident. I am willing to wait and see how that shakes out.
