Senator Martha McSally (R-Ariz.) on Wednesday warned that securing the border through more fencing or a wall may not be enough to stop the surge of migrants attempting to enter the U.S. at the southern border and that a legislative change is needed to address the crisis... (she) expressed concern over the loopholes in current U.S. immigration legislation... I think we need to narrow some emergency legislation"

“How about a fence, strong, long and wide from sea to sea?”
McSally votes for barrier funding whenever called upon. This legislation she is participating in crafting/negotiating is not instead of barrier, it is in addition.
The lead Senators on this are just responding to a specific request from the Administration - something they think there is enough heat on the Democrats for them to allow it to pass.
They are being team players with the Trump Administration to patch a few specifics, not self-generating some alternative to President Trump’s policies.
Not a loophole, but a democratic giveaway to guarantee enough democratic votes to keep those @ssholes in power forever..............
How’s the fake rape allegations going, Martha?
I’ll tell you where they can put 5,000 unaccompanied children: their home country’s embassy. If they don’t have an embassy here, put them on the next plane to their country’s capital. What are we supposed to do, run a hotel here?
Yeah, the system is so horrible an unfair. If I drive drunk or rob a store with my daughter in the car, it’s a travesty that she can’t come to jail with me.
McSally is only former fighter pilot I’ve ever seen (and I’ve worked with a good number of them) that has absolutely nothing on the ball. It’s not hard to figure out that she’s a beneficiary of the ole AAFW (Affirmative Action For Women). I wouldn’t hire this fruit-basket to weed my garden. Does she have a single redeeming quality? Seriously, how does this moron find her way to work in the morning?
“Ill tell you where they can put 5,000 unaccompanied children: their home country”
Being able to do that is one of the main points of this proposed legislation. We can do that now only with Mexican and Canadian children. They want to expand that to any country of origin.
Rarely is this brought up. It’s Known As Reciprocity. We should be treating anybody illegally crossing the Mexican border into the US the way the Mexican’s do treat any American illegally doing the same.crossing into Mexico. Entry denied, fined, and possible imprisonment, then deported .
Talk talk talk....
The time to do this was 2 years ago.
Sounds like McSally is hearing from voters and they are pissed.
It’s time we consider illegal entry by any person who is a non Mexican citizen illegally entering the United States through the US Mexican border a defacto Mexican citizen with limited Mexican constitutional rights subject to their laws while transiting. As well as any Mexican citizen entering illegally exempting those who do so legally and meet US citizenship requirements.
This time Sinema is with her though.
“Sounds like McSally is hearing from voters and they are pissed.”
I really think that they are just responding to the written request from the Secretary of DHS (then Nielsen), requesting emergency legislation on these issues.
McSally did say in the article however, that she is close communication with the mayor of Yuma, who has declared an emergency in his city, because of the illegals on their streets.
I recommend sack lunches, and bus tickets to San Francisco.
Break the “binding treaty” because our asylum laws are being abused....most claimants never show up for their asylum hearings. I hear it is 90%. And if they do show up at their hearing and are rejected they don’t go home.
What treaty by the way? A UN treaty?
An outmoded, outdated treaty from 1951. Screw that! We can withdraw from that BS treaty from back when we were taking in European refugees.

“We can withdraw from that BS treaty (Refugee Convention)”
That is a possibility, that should be examined. The treaty might also be amended/updated. Laws are often enacted that codify how we comply with treaties, so that would have to be researched for landmines as well.
But that might very well be a strong tool in the toolbox.
Senator McSally is a day late and a dollar short, with dems now controlling the House nothing substancial is going to happen, they won’t chance alienating their Hispanic constituency before the 2020 election.
And McSally is happy to be talking about something besides her highly-questionable rape allegations. Her then-commanders aren’t upset enough yet to start asking hard questions but that’s coming if she continues. I’m sure she’s already had constituents call up her office and say, “Names and dates or it didn’t happen.”
