Ann has totally embarrassed herself by now, of course: backing Romney, turning on Trump, now desperately trying to get Bernie to play footsie with her.

But Bernie is right on one thing, our youth unemployment situation is horrible. Americans who send their kids off to college don’t so much care, but it is a major issue for other demographics. And to a fair degree caused by the 40 million illegals in the country presently. Send them home!!!

Here are some stats from the Bernster’s own website:

https://www.sanders.senate.gov/imo/media/doc/Youth%20Unemployment.pdf

And yes, note the figures have been compiled by a leftist organization—the Center for American Progress. I am going to guess the stats might be a couple of years out of date, but relatively unchanged.

We constantly here from Ivanka all they’re doing to get that last 3% of unemployed women out working, but the 43% of black male teens looking for work who can’t find a job?

What we need is actually a reversal of that, an economy and society that makes it easier for mothers to stay home for their kids—and teens to be out working.

As per

Brilliant! Given how many Libs HATE Ann, this endorsement of Bernie is the kiss of death!

I think what Ann is saying that wages have to go up even if it is a socialist at the helm. I am not ready to go that far but SHE HAS A POINT.

She has a point tangentially, but her argument to support socialism as a cross-purpose to address the problem of illegal immigration is a false premise. As you mention, it helps speed the path of socialism and getting that genie back in the bottle is difficult. People vote in socialism, but they have to shoot their way out.

I am not supporting Trump's visible lack of progress here by any means. I also don't believe that Trump's wall idea (if it isn't something more than a bomb to throw into a campaign crowd for electioneering-purposes) will solve the problem.

What needs to happen is to simply begin enforcing the laws we already have. The labor pool for illegal immigrants needs to dry up. It's the only thing that will slow or stop them from coming.

Throwing a few CEOs in jail for violating hiring laws will send a very potent message to the rest, and only then will we see a real turn-around. No wall required.

And no socialism, either...

I don't agree with David Frum very much, but he said something recently that made sense: if we started penalizing the hire of illegal immigrants in the same way that we penalized the hire of child labor, there would be no more illegal immigrant workers just as there are almost no underage laborers in America. The reason we don't is that corporations that rely on illegal immigrant labor have politicians in both parties wrapped around their fingers.

Building a wall is just part of what we need to stanch the flow of Third World immigration. Equally if not more important is ending chain migration and de-incentivizing immigration by cracking down both on public services for illegals and on private employers who knowingly hire them (as well as taxing remittances at a high rate). So far, there has been zero progress on any of these. The fact that it didn't happen in 2 years with a Republican House and Senate and Trump in the White House doesn't bode well for the next year and eight months either.

I’d suggest she still has a fan base far beyond that small microcosm of the electorate that FR represents and that could be a problem.

If she feels this strongly on immigration (assuming she isn’t FOS) then chances are, many thousands of Americans feel the same.

I watched all the debates about “building a wall and making Mexico pay for it”. It’ll be 4 years before you know it and nothing has been done. Not that I ever expected it to be done. But I’m sure many did.

Yeah, there will be the few who point to a rebuilt slat fence and the prototypes for walls and say “work has been started” but you and I know that’s not really the case.

It will be an issue test come re-election. Frankly, I think Coulter is wrong. The economic upturn, the tax reform, the reduced regulation and the SCOTUS picks far outweigh any BS discussion about the border. But that’s just me.

> but the 43% of black male teens looking for work who can’t find a job <

When my uncle graduated high school back in the early 1950’s, he had two good job offers within a week. One was with the railroad. The other was with a rolling mill.

Every American kid today - black or white - deserves that same opportunity. And I’ve already heard all the usual reasons why that can’t happen. It’s a global economy. There are robots in the workforce now. Blah, blah, blah.

These excuses all translate into the same thing. “Too bad. Let them eat cake.” Well, OK. Just had out more more welfare checks. But make no mistake about it. A huge unemployed and ignored underclass means disaster for a country.

Fix this, Mr. Trump.

She is not a socialist. She is frustrated at the Cheap Labor Express GOP that refuses to change so she would look to anyone willing to stop the illegal flood..

"Ann.....even floated the idea of working in his administration"

Suddenly it's clear. Trump jilted her by not offering her a job. It's certainly good that he didn't. Hell hath no fury as a woman scorned. Give it up Ann. You ain't no conservative.

As if Bernie would EVER stop the flood of illegals.

Bernie's half-hearted remarks opposing illegal immigration are just empty rhetoric for a constituency of Democrat voters that has largely vanished: private sector labor union members who opposed illegal immigration and mass immigration generally. They no longer have any clout and their leaders have sold themselves to the DNC's agenda - including open borders. Fifty years ago they were politically relevant and opposed to cheap immigrant labor, but those days are long gone.

Bernie's base now consists of Social Justice Warriors and Antifa types. They want open borders. They want race-based reparations. They want Viva La Raza and a BlackLivesMatter race war. Bernie will say and do what these people want, not what labor union leaders wanted 50 years ago.

You’re posting/quoting (outdated) data, from a UK survey company, from 1988 - 2013??

What are CURRENT numbers? Say, from 2017 to today?

Unreal to see ANYONE on this forum attempting to justify socialism.

Take your UK/socialism promotion and go to DU. They’ll appreciate your *info*, there.
