It might belong to the Catholic Church. If so, the Church should rebuild it.

Under a 1905 law, Notre-Dame de Paris is one of 70 churches in Paris built before that year which are owned by the French state. While the building itself is owned by the state, the Catholic Church is the designated beneficiary, having the exclusive right to use it for religious purposes in perpetuity. The archdiocese is responsible for paying the employees, for security, heating and cleaning, and for ensuring that the cathedral is open free to visitors. The archdiocese does not receive subsidies from the French state.

Surprised me the Roman Catholic Church didn't own Notre Dame outright.

It belongs to the state - to the govt. of France--- IIRC, because the Archdiocese of Paris could not afford the the requisite maintenance and repair, and France could not afford to let it crumble and lose it as a national cultural monument and tourist attraction. So it became a U.N. World Cultural site, concert venue and French Ministry of Heritage (or whatever) asset.

This is not unusual in these post-Christian cultural milieux.

However, it was still a working house of Prayer. A FReeper posted on one of these threads the daily and weekly prayer schedule: Masses, Liturgy of the Hours and so forth.

No Imams or Mullahs, no Salat, as far as I know.

You'd think so, but it belongs to France.
