Shortened title.

Full title: President Trump Tweets McCarthy Article: “There is no doubt that the Obama administration spied on the Trump campaign”

President Trump draws attention today to an article written by Andrew McCarthy.

NY Post […] “As night follows day, we were treated to the same Beltway hysteria we got this week: Silly semantic carping over the word “spying” — which, regardless of whether a judge authorizes it, is merely the covert gathering of intelligence about a suspected wrongdoer, organization or foreign power.

There is no doubt that the Obama administration spied on the Trump campaign. As Barr made clear, the real question is: What predicated the spying? Was there a valid reason for it, strong enough to overcome our norm against political spying? Or was it done rashly? Was a politically motivated decision made to use highly intrusive investigative tactics when a more measured response would have sufficed, such as a “defensive briefing” that would have warned the Trump campaign of possible Russian infiltration?

Andrew McCarthy has been one of the most accurate people reporting on the Russian collusion set up, the Mueller investigation and the Obama administration illegally spying on the Trump campaign.

It is good to see President Trump recognize him.

“...when a more measured response would have sufficed, such as a “defensive briefing” that would have warned the Trump campaign of possible Russian infiltration?”

A silly assertion as that was NEVER their intention EVER. There intention was an excuse to spy on the Trump campaign to develop whatever dirt possible to take him out ideally before the election or God forbid after the election should he win.

McCarthy started out with the premise that Mueller and others that he worked with in the past were completely on the up and up.

As the facts came in, he at least had the integrity that other #neverTrumpers lack to admit there was major corruption going on in the DOJ and FBI.

McCarthy’s career was as a DOJ attorney and prosecutor. His training and experience has made him cautious and methodical. He does not make accusations until he has the facts.

But he has been vary accurate and insightful about Mueller and the Obama DOJ.

Don’t worry. Absolutely nothing will happen to anyone.

Comey and Brennan may be disgraced (in the eyes of a few people). Otherwise, it will be business as usual in Washington DC

“I used to think McCarthy was very accurate and admired his methodical approach until I saw him ignore certain red flags for issues other than the Trump campaign supposed Russian connection question.”

I wish he would have been much more critical of the Mueller people earlier.

But his recent articles have been very good. He has gone against the entire MSM as well as the Mueller team.

-- Absolutely nothing will happen to anyone. --

We'll get a commission or committee like the Church Committee that will find all sorts of abuse. Hand wringing will ensue. Then a taxpayer funded super-FISA will be erected with claims that THIS system will regulate abuse.

It's all dog and pony show, financed by the public for the benefit of a corrupt government. A few mid-level fall guys will be the face.

Rinse and repeat every 20-40 years.

Testimony of Bill Priestap, asst director of Obama’s FBI Counter-intelligence
Division in 2015, contains extensive and shocking indications of wrongdoing:
<><> that the Obama-era FBI and DoJ directly targeted Trump,
<><> they did so with information it made no effort to verify.
<><> the Obama-era bureau is depicted as one that was unconcerned with political interference in investigations

AND THIS the Obama-era bureau was willing to enlist the help of close foreign allies to bring down its target. And remember.....during the campaign Hillary bragged about “foreign governments” supporting her election. The same “foreign governments” Obama had assisting the effort to frame Trump.

That would mean Obama, Hillary and the lot of them were “colluding” with foreign powers to interfere in a US election. Wouldnt it, Donald?

(NOTE: Priestap is married to Sabina Menschel, the current head of the Washington, D.C., office of Nardello & Co, a detective agency. Her father, Richard Menschel, is a Goldman Sachs investment banker, philanthropist and Democratic donor, as is her uncle Robert Menschel. Her mother, Ronay A. Menschel, was a Democratic deputy mayor of New York City under Ed Koch.

McCarthy piblished a mea culpa; it was not cognizant caution.

“McCarthy piblished a mea culpa; it was not cognizant caution.”

To his credit, McCarthy admitted he was wrong in his early assessments of the Russia collusion investigation.

McCarthy was an attorney and prosecutor with DOJ. He knew about the rules and procedures at DOJ. He knew how things used to be done.

McCarthy did not realize how corrupt the DOJ had become under Obama. He was also reluctant to accuse people within the DOJ of wrong doing without evidence.

McCarthy has publicly admitted that he was wrong to assume the Obama DOJ were following their traditional procedures.

Since that time his coverage has been excellent.

I should have talked more about his earlier reluctance to accuse the corrupt Obama people.

Here is a good review of this in an interview with Dan Bongino.

Since they got away with it, it will become standard practice for Dems going forward.
