Well, that's true. I know that from 1848-1962 the whole Mediterranean region of Algeria was administered as an integral part of France. Overseas France (French: France d'outre-mer).

Any Algerians who had parents in Algeria prior to 1962 would be the children of Algerian French citizens. I wonder if that gives them French citizenship too?
