It’s very telling that the media reports on this story describe Notre Dame as a tourist attraction, not a sacred religious building. I wonder if the place had any religious value at all anymore. France hasn’t been Catholic in more than 200 years.

France hasnt been Catholic in more than 200 years.Officially, no, but there are many faithful Catholics in France, they go to Latin Mass and they have children. My French priest friends have 5 to 12 siblings each.

When we toured Paris (and the Cathedral ) in August 2015, they were celebrating Mass there.

France hasnt been Catholic in more than 200 years. When I was there three years ago, it was clear that it was an active religious building. Mass was celebrated there daily, and great care was made to remind visitors that it was a church. Besides the many signs, I'm sure no one can forget the frequent announcements of "Silence".
