As to the framing of the church the main body of the walls is stone upon stone with the roof and some other elements structurally (flying buttresses) to support the walls made of wood
I have been there personally and it is not like anything you may have seen in construction elsewhere. The restoration was to remove some artifacts in preparation for the work. For the whole building to go up as it is I say the chance of a careless worker is in question as it would be quite a mistake to be using anything with flames in preparation.
It was magnificent, Catholic or not and I remember standing near a wall and placing my hand upon it on the inside, it was as if I could feel the energy of the millions of souls who had sought refuge there
I am deeply sorrowed that this has happened, the message is clear....
And for the shills and others who need to know I am not Catholic
“...placing my hand upon it on the inside, it was as if I could feel the energy of the millions of souls who had sought refuge there.”
What a beautiful statement. Our existence does not end with our bodily death, and what you say is surely proof of that.
This is a sad day for all of humankind whether each individual soul is aware of it or not.
Notre Dame survived centuries of wars, revolutions, Big Bertha, and the Nazis.
And now this.....Heaven weeps.
So well said. I felt the exact same thing when I visited Notre Dame. It's as if the stones of the building have absorbed the thoughts, prayers, and life energy of those who have passed through its doors.
