It couldn’t have spread that fast without accelerants. They actually renovated a lot of this several years ago (I contributed to it and then the last few times I have been in Paris and gone to Notre Dame, I would hear the guides pointing this out to people).

The French government will never admit it, but it was terrorism and while it was planned for the start of Holy Week, it wasn’t directed only at Christians but at all of Western civilization. Notre Dame was symbolic of this, and if you studied art and art history, as I did, you’d know that this is definitely in the 9/11 category in terms of striking at a symbol.

I agree that accellerants were used. Once the French Fire Department Investigators make that determination, we will have "the HOW."

From "the HOW," the next step is to determine "the WHO."

The French Fire Department might not be wedded to political correctness like it is with elected politicians. We can pray that they hold Notre Dame in such high esteem that only the truth about her destruction must be revealed.

Music history, too. Key developments in polyphony and hence Western music are directly tied to Notre Dame. It is a loss on so many levels.

Exactly my reaction, Livius. I could not function today just as I couldn’t the day the towers fell.

This is the end of Western Civilization.

Because Americans, no matter how patriotic, keep sending their precious children to the place that teaches Western Civilization is just as good as Barbarian hordes.

The great novel, “Notre Dame de Paris” by Hugo immortalized this Cathedral. It IS France.
