So why would anyone allow a stranger to sit in their living room listening, and, in some cases, transcribing all their private and maybe even intimate conversations is beyond comprehension...

True, but I would rather us my pc to find what I need. Loaded with anti-spyware of course.

As for listening to music, I actually like my own personal collections, but if those lack, then I use Direct TVs music channels. I can chose what the genre I like for the mood I am in. Whether it be pop, country, classical, or even holiday music. Since still I have an old projection TV that works fine after 25 years, I know there are no cameras or microphones designed to keep track of my personal life.

I used to worry I would get paranoid as I got older, but in todays world you would be crazy NOT to be a bit paranoid.
