House Ways and Means Chairman Richard Neal is not backing down on his request for six years of the President Donald Trump's personal and business tax returns, he writes In a new letter sent Saturday to IRS Commissioner Charles Rettig.
In a two-page letter, Neal writes that he believes his committee is well within its rights to see the President's tax returns and that he expects a decision from the IRS within the next 10 days.
"I expect a reply from the IRS by 5:00 p.m. on April 23, 2019. Please know that if you fail to comply, your failure will be interpreted as a denial of my request," Neal writes.

Exactly right. That is why the Mueller investigation was successful even though it found no collusion or obstruction. At least half of lofo people have concluded Trump was guilty of something or there wouldn't have been a two year investigation costing tens of millions.
That is their constant game plan and MO -- sow seeds of doubt. Because they have finally concluded he won't leave office by crimes, impeachment, resignation, emoluments clause, mental instability, or the 25th Amendment, their objective is now shifting to making it impossible for him to get re-elected.
The Rats are pests.
I can see double secret probation in the future for the IRS if they do not comply.
A necessary and proper law can not be used in a manner that would violate the Constitution.
The Congressional Democratic motives are purely partisan political and highly improper.
And dont forget Amendment IV:
The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated
Trumps lawyers need to inform the Commissioner of the IRS to ignore the improper and unconstitutional crat request and get a court injunction ASAP.
“The Rats are pests.”
With all due respect, ants at your picnic are pests. Democrats are more like a potentially lethal virus.
So no response is necessary. That is a pretty stupid way put it.
The IRS should respond by auditing all of the ‘RATs.
I swear the quoted line sounds like something straight out of Monty Python.
"Please know that if you fail to comply, your failure will be interpreted as a denial of my request....."
BOL----I wonder how long it took him to come up with that (cough) threat.
Counter with a bill sent to Congress.
Any member of Congress House or Senate. Any cabinet secretary
The President and Vice President
Should have their taxes from 5 years prior to holding office straight thru to the last year of office being held. Be released to the public.
The Democrats should flock to sign that bill about as fast as the New Green Deal
Are there ANY CPA’s in the House?
I don’t think so.
They couldn’t understand one of my tax returns from when I was still working.
I challenge any of them to describe the different kinds of DEPRECIATION. NOT just name them.
Except it was based on the Steele report and people that the FBI infiltrated into his campaign.
“Demand” and “Get” are two very different things.
Go fish. Who knows, Captain Ahab might even capture that great white whale.
How did that story end again?
All of this and the behavior of so many Democrats during the past two years or so has lead me to discover a glaring error by our founding fathers. I don’t know why I never noticed this before.
The Legislative Branch can impeach and remove from office certain members of the Administrative Branch and the Judicial Branch for misbehavior, but the Constitution considers the Legislative Branch members off limits to being removed from office by either of the other two branches for bad behavior.
I have certainly long known this to be the case, but I never put the two facts together right next to each other before this morning.
You DEPRECIATED assets? You capitalist swine, you. Guilty as charged. Hang ‘em!!
GO TO HELL.
But it makes for great headlines.
Keep insinuating Trump is corrupt or at the very least has something to hide.
And we all know what that is..
As big and involved as those returns must be? And what would be revealed? That he made a lot of money? Would CONgress be able to find something the IRS didn’t? NO in any case. Plenty of ignos out here “demanding’ they be released. TFB!
Good point!
“The Treasury Department and the IRS should respond immediately with a big NO.”
Nah, NO is such a relatively pleasant word. How about GFY Richard?
