Hitler and his closest cronies constantly railed against the capitalist economies of Britain and the US, which they claimed were dominated by "plutocrats" who betrayed the working class. Fact is socialism and fascism are quite compatible because in both systems the state controls the economy - and enjoys the resulting power.
Draw your own conclusions. Hitler was a one off far too complex to try and pigeon hole as a “socialist”. There are socialist tendencies to a greater or lesser degree in every country.

Hitler was a socialist when it was necessary for him to be one. Hitler advocated Hilterism! Strictly speaking he wasn’t even a fascist! I really wasn’t making any comment about Hitler. prior to the Rohm purge there were Nazis who were indeed put the socialism in national socialist. Goebbels was a “Red (socialist)” Nazi as was Rohm. The purge showed Goebbels it was smart to prefer brown to red.
I was just making a point that we have been moving to accepting socialism since FDR.
The socialists go absolutely ape feces whenever you mention that Hitler and the Nazis were socialists......even though they openly said it and it was right there in the name of the party. Then they desperately try to sling as much crap as they can against the wall to dodge the obvious truth:
“But But But...that was just the name! They didn’t really adopt socialist policies!”
Yes they did. Just read their party manifesto sometime.
“But But But....they fought the state socialists so they can’t be real socialists!”
So what? They were fighting over the same space. Those are often the most nasty fights. Was Trotsky not a socialist? Stalin had him murdered.
“But But But they were nationalists and nationalism is right wing!”
Actually it was an idea of the Left - read up on the French Revolution more carefully. Also, the two are hardly mutually exclusive. Plenty of other socialists have been nationalists. Stalin made overt appeals to Russian nationalism during the war and espoused “socialism in one country” as opposed to Trotsky’s global socialism. Was Ho Chi Minh not a nationalist? Kim Is Sung? Mao Tse Tung?
The Nazis were just as the name flatly states - national SOCIALISTS.

Beck is creepy and wrong more than he is right but that doesn’t mean that he has absolutely nothing to offer and therefor should be ignored perhaps even banned from this forum.
This writing is a good example of when he’s right and deserves to be posted and discussed in a thoughtful manner. Disregarding the opinions and demonizing the people we disagree with is a quintessential canon of the left and belongs isolated to the DU, not the FREErepublic we so know and love.
I thought this was a good breakdown and honest assessment of the Nazis....it’s important that we get terminology correct because it’s all part of the BIG government propaganda to demonize and make comparisons of groups-—in essence, misleading through Mis-characterization.
The bottom line is Europe’s government is BIG government, centralized everything with some slight variations. It’s parallel rails guiding the same train to the same destination. Communism, socialism, Fascism, Nazism——all end up at the same place with slightly different means of getting there.
