It is a very wearing job. This thing goes 24/7 with no letup and no real vacations, and constant stress about when some of thousands of possible shoes will drop. There is always some possible disaster around a corner, that phone call at 3:00am. I have been in that sort of career, though with nowhere near the possible scope of trouble, and I am quite done with it. And I am not even 70, let alone 79.

And age has effects beyond merely reducing stamina.
