Well, yes, that certainly would be a safer and better alternative by every possible measure.
I do not believe that we have that alternative available. To me, it appears to be a happy illusion. Wishful thinking. Danger Will Robinson! Danger!
Your reasoned assessment of the situation differs from mine. That is perfectly normal and it is a good thing. Everybody brings something different to the table. And this is one area where I hope I am wrong, and you are right.
There must be many plans for different possibilities. The limits of those possibilities are not where we perceive them to be. And for any given plan there must be checkpoints and regeneration points for when things go off the rails.
What do you have for checkpoints on the plan for the Convention of States?
Checkpoints? Okay.
I prefer the first COS recommends nothing. I hope the delegates can’t pass a majority vote to pass anything on to the states, not even repeal of the 17A.
Should this happen, then the people of Flatland will understand a third dimension, that they can conduct a COS that didn’t “runaway.” Once the rational majority of Americans understand they can do an end run around the entire Washington DC complex and restore free government, then we can make substantive changes.
