“Absolutely right! they want a meeting to see if the stupid Americans will give us more money if we behave ourselves”

But nothing would change in their behavior. Fortunately Trump knows that and is basically saying: “change your behavior now, then we’ll see.”

“How have places like NY or Chicago dealt with “protection” rackets?”

New York had Rudy Giuliani. No one else like him, since. :) But, you’ll note that things went back to shiite when he was no longer a prosecutor/Mayor. :(

Chicago will always be a mess!

“Too bad he has failed to achieve anything on borders and immigration.”

I’ll just leave this here. LOL!

“Trump is listening to the border sheriff’s and the border patrol rank and file folks and is following their advice.”

We have quite a few Freepers here that ARE on The Front Lines. They need to make a bigger stink and on a daily basis!

We Yankees have got your back, as we’ve been dealing with the scum and crime and gang miscreants that come up from Chicago or down from the Twin Cities. And now that we have a Dem governor, things will get worse again because, well, we have to be NICE and not hurt any Gang Banger or Somali import’s FEEEEEELINGS! *SPIT*

Trust me, it ain’t your everyday hard-working FARMERS committing crimes and raping and killing people!

Typical CNN. WHICH experts? What are their names? When did they say this? What are their credentials?

CNN is back to "experts say". I remember clearly watching CNN in the summer of 2016 when Robby Mook was on CNN and repeated the "experts say" words several times claiming that Russia was interfering with our election. It sounded very suspicious when I heard it. I had the same questions as you. Who are these experts? Of course the CNN critter did not ask Mook.

This thinking is one of the prime reasons Democrats and their RINO allies have ratcheted up the assault on our country with the mass flow of fake asylum seekers.

It’s a win, win for them. Import undocumented Democrats en mass, and tie the Presidents hands with judicial fiat until the cases can make their way to the SC. At the same time, it makes the President look inept on immigration.

I agree with Trump. They didn’t want to help. Now, Trump did what he needed to do and now they want something out of us.

That might work down the road. Mexico is not likely to sign any such thing. The President of Mexico has to keep the cartels happy or he will not be president long, may even have a short life. He is going to have to keep Trump happy too for the economy of Mexico; but will not do it in public statements or signing a treaty about border security. The cartels essentially have control of Mexico, more so than their government.

There is no need for President Trump to do that. Homeland Security and other officials have been talking to officials in Central American and Mexico. President Trump has spoke to them too. This is just another bit of media nonsense.

"I think I read somewhere that US Presidents have the power to unilaterally sign treaties. I think it came up when Obama was on one of his apology tours."

Yes, a President can sign a Treaty, but to be lawful it needs Senate approval. I think Obambi's stuff was call "mutual agreements", not Treaties. But then, he did lots of EO's and other stuff to get around US Code and Constitution, not to mention ignoring court findings.
Of course, it was all ignored by the socialist MSM.
