One of the proposals I've pushed is having Amtrak routes that parallel our major interstates. For example, the Sunset Limited runs from Los Angeles to New Orleans roughly paralleling I-10. (It used to run all the way to Jacksonville before Hurricane Katrina.) Another train should branch off at El Paso and run the I-20 parallel route all the way to Columbia, SC. From there it could run up to DC on the I-85 parallel route or head south to Charleston on the I-26 parallel route.

I like to think outside the box.

COTTON CLUB PARADE OF 1934: “AS LONG AS I LIVE”

After decades of working lesser venues, Fatha hit the jackpot in the Seventies when he became a jazz star. This is from Paris in 1972 where he teamed with Byard in a two-piano set.

Exactly! And why it doesn’t I don’t know. There are a lot of major cities along that route, including Dallas/Ft. Worth.
