Yeah...she looks about like I’d imagined she would.
I have a severe allergy to bee stings. The last time I was stung I went in to full blown anaphylactic shock. During bee season I carry at least two EpiPens with me pretty much at all times.
3 or 4 years ago some it looked like some bees had taken up residence inside the siding of my house just above my front door. There were thousands of them flying around. So I did some research and called a local bee removal outfit. They determined they werent honey bees but yellow jackets. Nasty mean aggressive little bastards.
One sting is potentially lethal to me. Several would most likely be lights out for Lurker.
The bee guy wouldnt touch them and referred me to a specialist to have the colony destroyed. That cost me $300 for a 20 year old kid to come by and spend an hour on my balcony blasting the hateful little monsters with poison. The cloud of them was so thick it blocked the view of the street.
He looked like some kind of Jedi of Yellow Jacket Death waving two wands of whatever it was that killed them. He was out there for over an hour.
When the last of them finally died Mrs. L had to sweep them up with a broom.
I have a live and let live attitude towards honey bees. But Yellow Jackets I hate with the white hot intensity of 10,000 burning suns.
I still shudder when I remember the huge cloud of the little monsters flying around this kid.

The do make traps for carpenter bees. My husband would just smoosh them with a stick when they went into their holes, or use caulk to trap them in there and, in doing so, seal the hole.
Idiots.
That works, but the damage has been done at that point.....................
I hate yellow jackets too. A little diesel fuel and a match at night down their holes in the ground does wonders. I’ve never had them in my house, so glad you had the ninja kid to handle that. I wouldn’t recommend the diesel/match method for your porch. LOL!
Alright, Mrs. Meza. We’ll just start solving the problem with fire.
Yes, but he was a contractor and used the “right” caulk to seal those holes which helped with the damage. I have to be dilligent all spring and summer since I have log siding. They LOOOOVE it.

Try Method #2....................
In the two years that I was employed by the state of Iowa as a honeybee inspector, I had about 10 calls to remove bees. I was always dismayed at the homeowner. I would ask...how long have these bees been here? None of them were a pristine swarm hanging in a tree, ready to be hived. They were usually entrenched in the side of a barn or house and had 40 to 50 pounds of honey in the walls. The homeowner was oblivious. They had obviously been there for at least a year and probably longer.
I became hypersensitive and the boss asked me to give it up. Which I gladly did when I realized he was right. I’m probably qualified to remove them with a BS in Entomology from UCD in 1968. Sorry, not the least bit interested.
Soon she will move to protect the bees, killing them will be illegal. The only way to deal with them will be licensed bee control companies.
Yep. It’s all about the aquafir. They believe they own it.
I lived in the Seattle area for 46 years and just learned of that rule a couple of years before I left. And you’re right. It’s statewide. Even in the small towns in the eastern Washington desert.
And in King county, if you have more than 5 acres you have to get a permit to clear your blackberries.
I have a friend on Mercer Island that wanted to get rid of some trees on his property. But the city won’t allow it. So he spiked them (poisoned them) When they died he took a chain saw to them and one of his neighbors came out and threatened to call the police if he cut them down. He explained to her that they were dead, and then he cut them down.
It’s all fascism. Again, it is one of the reasons I moved to Rural KY. It’s like going back in time 50 years in a LOT of good ways. Just the other day I saw a pickup go by with a bunch of folks riding in the back, and NOBODY CARED. :)
Of COURSE it is a Dem/Leftist/Communist. They are simply not happy unless they control every aspect of our lives.
I’m not a farmer or bee expert of any kind, but it seems to me that having bees removed by a pro, and relocated to a better place to do their thing, has been and is a good result. Why fix it if it ain’t broke? Unless of course you’re a busybody Communist control freak, drunk on your own power.
Ahhh....carpenter bees. They used to drill through the railings on my front porch. You can try what I did....it may or may not work, but its so cheap, its worth a try. If you have an overhang or roof on a porch...get a brown paper bag. Lunch size bag or a little bigger. Fill it will something light. I stuffed plastic grocery bags in the brown bags. Once full, tie a string around the top and sort of shape the brown bag to look like a wasp nest....then hang it up. I have several of these hanging on my porch....and no more carpenter bees!
“I read more kooky things coming out of Texas the past 12 months than i have in the past 5 years.
Someone check the water.”
The water here is just fine. A bit hard, but fine. Its about the Leftists.
I live in NY. Our ridiculous assembly feels they have to come up with new regulations and spend money - to give the appearance of real work.
the person removing the bees has undergone 160 hours of both class room and field training in beekeeping and removals. That amounts to over 3 college semester classes worth of training! A normal college class of 3 semester credit hours is around 45-48 contact hours.
There is one angle.
Additionally, the licensed bee remover must obtain $600,000 in liability insurance. If that wasnt enough, the bee remover must also have $300,000 in workmans comp before being able to legally remove bees. Oh and you have to pay a yearly licensing fee and whatever fees are associated with your 160 hours of classroom and field training.
There is another.
