FBI Director Christopher Wray on Thursday told lawmakers that white supremacist violence is a persistent and pervasive threat in the U.S.
"The danger, I think, of white supremacists, violent extremism or another kind of extremism is of course significant," Wray said at an FBI budget request hearing before the House Appropriations Committee.
"We assess that it is a persistent, pervasive threat," he said. "We tackle it both through our joint terrorism task forces on the domestic terrorism side as well as through our civil rights program on the civil side through hate crime enforcement."
Wrays comments follow those of President Trump, who said after last month's mass shooting in New Zealand that white supremacists were a small group of people that have very, very serious problems.
Trump sparked controversy in 2017 after a deadly Charlottesville, Va., white supremacist rally when he said there "some very fine people on both sides."
The House Judiciary Committee announced it will hold a hearing on white nationalism and hate crimes on Tuesday.
"This hearing will examine hate crimes, the impact white nationalist groups have on American communities and the spread of white identity ideology, the panel said in a statement. The hearing will also foster ideas about what social media companies can do to stem white nationalist propaganda and hate speech online."
An indictment unsealed last week found that federal investigators have filed criminal charges for murder, assault and kidnapping against 18 members and associates of a violent Alaska-based white supremacist gang.
I live in the deep South (Alabama). I am rural, surrounded by red necks and good ‘ol boys. I don’t know any white supremacists. Have not seen a klansman in years. Lot’s of Patriots black and white. We all just want everyone to go sit in a corner and color.
Oh... is it white supremacists that are attacking people in MAGA hats?
Is it white supremacists who are stalking people at their workplace and restaurants hounding them down (and attacking them?
Is it white supremacists who are deplatforming people and banning them from getting bank accounts or having a presence on the internet?
If so - I completely agree with the FBI director.
When a 'hate crime' is determined to be a hoax, is it removed from the record as a 'hate crime' or is it still counted as a 'hate crime'?
If we're going to keep a list of 'hate crimes' we should also include a list of 'hate crime' hoaxes.
Violent “progressives” vs violent “white supremacist” (as defined by progressives being pretty much anything that’s not them)
Which is actually doing more? Which feels safer acting up because they’ve got more tall grass to hide in?
So-called “progressives”.
Then there’s comparing the numbers of violent Muslims vs the numbers of violent “white supremacist” ...
Muslims by a much larger margin.
Your proverbial Illinois Nazis have no allies, no tall grass to hide in.
Quite unlike the Left or Muslims.
Blah blah blah
Ultimately it’ll just be anyone who isn’t Woke.
That was Charlottesville Virginia, city of Hate.
If by “White Supremacy” they mean “White Liberalism”, I wholeheartedly agree.
Of the murder last year in Chicago, Detroit, LA and NYC, I wonder how many were committed by White Nationalists.
Wray was another terrible pick and a wasted opportunity. A deep State hack of the worst order. I remember a couple of months after he was confirmed he made a big show and railed against the Russian meddling in the 16 elections. Just another Rat tool pretending to be a Republican.
An FBI Director who actually believes this crap should removed from his job immediately...
Tell me about all these “white suprematists” participating in the “knockout game”.....Oh, wait....
Donald Trump seems to have a knack for picking the exact WRONG person for the job. I don’t know if it’s bad advice or Trump himself, but he better figure it out.
Wray is a Sessions. GET RID OF HIM!
...Trump sparked controversy in 2017 after a deadly Charlottesville, Va., white supremacist rally when he said there "some very fine people on both sides."
If you read the whole statement, the President was speaking about the peaceful protestors who were there on both sides. But his statement has be disected by the MSM and every other lover of Antifa and the violent left as somehow referring to the guy behind the wheel.
Wake me up when House democrats investigate antifa, Islamic terrorism, left wing terrorism, illegal alien invasion, and George Soros bankrolling ALL of the above.
Maybe Wray is talking about the left creating “safe spaces” that is no different then excluding groups from socializing around drinking fountains? /s
Wray is a Sessions. GET RID OF HIM!

He’s worse than that. He’s a Comey.
This is part of their 2020 meme
