EL PASO, Texas Democratic presidential candidate Beto ORourke paid roughly $110,000 in campaign funds to a web development company while either he or his wife owned it, public records show.
Beto for Texas paid Stanton Street Technology Group $58,544 during the 2011-12 election cycle, $39,060 during the 2013-14 cycle, $9,290 in the 2015-16 cycle and $32,778 during the 2017-18 cycle, according to Federal Election Commission (FEC) records reviewed by The Daily Caller News Foundation.
Either ORourke or his wife owned Stanton Street a small web development firm that ORourke founded in 1998 during the vast majority of those payments. Such payments are legal, so long as the campaign is charged for the actual cost of the services, but ethics watchdogs have criticized the practice as a form of self-dealing.
ORourkes wife, Amy Sanders ORourke, took over Stanton Street as the Texas Democrat entered Congress in January 2013. She controlled it until early 2017.
Amy ORourke sold her stake in the company on March 31, 2017, according to Beto ORourkes 2017 year-end financial disclosure report. He listed the sale value in the $100,001 to $1 million range.
Stanton Street publicly announced the sale more than two months after the fact in a June 2017 blog post that listed CEO Brian Wancho as Amy ORourkes buyer.
Amy will continue to be involved with the company during the transition, read the blog post. She plans to spend more time on local initiatives in addition to joining her husband, Senate Candidate and current U.S. Representative Beto ORourke, on the campaign trail.
Beto ORourke doubled as both candidate and treasurer during his first congressional campaign in 2011 and 2012, according to FEC records.
Beto for Texas paid the candidates own business for services including consulting and social media during that time, FEC records show.
Stanton Street declined to make Wancho available for an interview, but Wancho agreed to answer questions via email.
His wife’s father is a billionaire, and they have millions of their own. Why do they have to steal these (comparatively, for them) petty amounts?
Why can’t they wait until they get in power so they can steal big, rather than stealing petty amounts from their petty supporters.
If thats not an illegal campaign finance violation, then there is no such thing as an illegal campaign finance violation.
Wow
BETO, also known as IRISH BOB
I forgot to add that I speak Spanish just like “Irish Bob.” I was also raised on the border. I do not pretend to be Mexican although my wife is from Mexico. His wife is also very very white.
Irish Bob is a charlatan.
I wonder how much of the $110,000 made its way into the O’Rourke family bank account? When O’Rourke loses the nomination, how many homes and new cars will he buy?
It was a flop of a business.
BETO HAS NEVER HAD A REAL JOB.
His mother gave him millions. Her father is worth over $500 million.
They try to make Beto look like some kind of tech entrepreneur. Fact is that hes never been able to keep a real job. So what does he do? He ran for Congress.
Its perfectly alright, He’s a Democrat and a Latino or maybe a Irishman
rut roh
It is ok to use your own resources at regular prices.
You know how you can tell if a DemoRat is lying?? Right their lips are moving....they are all crocked....
Bye bye white boys. They are setting Harris up to be the nominee. Each one did get a nice payout though. Just wondering if Colonel Sanders will support Buttplug, or will the DNC give him a nice payout to either be Kamala’s buttboy as VP or let him keep his 7+ million in donations to go away.
Harris is going to be pushed up... and then the rug pulled out from under her. Supposedly theres a sex tape from her swinger days.
Then Hillary will be begged to run (by her media and her DNC) and shell be the nominee.
I agree Harris is their best candidate.
I have noticed that the democrats are all crooks and they are crazy too.
“Beto” thinks he is “Hispanic” when he is Irish and Warren thinks she is an indian but is not by 99.9%
