I dunno. I think he was just loving the attention and the TV stipend money. He knew the content of the Dossier, and maybe he had hoped some of it would turn up evidence.
I don’t know if he ever had any sources since he started his TV gig.
He would have sources. CIA is a dark and murky place. His contacts dont end when he retires.
maybe if he got “burned” (like the infamous Burn Notice show) which is not the case here.
Someone may have hung him out to dry.
