The Amish again.
...... the suspect
Did this guy kill a girl he didn't previously know just for getting in his car?
That is unspeakably awful
99% chance it was attempted or actual rape.
He kidnapped her and drove to a remote wooded area.
He didn't do that so he could discuss foreign policy.
If he did rape her (which is almost assuredly what occurred), he had to get "rid of the evidence."
Rope, tree.
if Obama had a son ....

Just yesterday there was a good thread on FR, the subject generally being about how carefree life was in the 50's, 60's, and in other earlier years.
Now this:
"look out for one another, be active bystanders.... travel in groups and stay together."
What a completely different country.
He may have posed as a uber driver...

Found her blood and her cell phone in his car; he had child safety locks in back so she could not get out. Bleach, antibacterial wipes [dude, antibacterial doesn’t get rid of blood], etc were found in his car but it’s not yet known if he bought those in preparation for a murder or after the fact. He formerly lived in the area in which her body was found by a pair of turkey hunters.
She was studying poli-sci wanting to get into international law, out drinking with friends and got separated [how?] .She may have gotten in the car without any thought at all, but I wonder why she’d assume his car was the uber - was he parked by the curb hoping for inebriated women to randomly choose to hop in, or did he just happen to see her standing there looking left and right, and take the opportunity to offer her a ride. Just curious why he happened by when he did.

I've never taken an Uber car, but my wife tells me the Uber driver knows your name and should make an attempt to identify himself.
I personally believe there is more to this story.

Video of the abduction in the article.
I see it like this:
-He had an Uber sign in his window.
-She summoned Uber, was standing there waiting, like all Uber passengers.
-He was looking for a lone girl standing at the curb waiting for the car.
-She was tired, had a couple drinks on board and didn’t stop to confirm that he was her driver. She just wanted to go home.
He thought it was a free one.
Yes, Uber tells you what car, color and license plate will come to pick you up. It is your job to match that information so you get into the right car.
The Uber driver knows your name as well.
Yes, there is more to this story. I am sure drugs/alcohol are involved as well.
I would add that she noticed that the driver was a black guy but decided that she didn't want to be thought of as a racist and got into the car anyway.
My 13 year old daughter followed the same line of reasoning when she noticed a guy behind her pretending to look at children's books near her at Target. She didn't want to appear to be a racist, so she stayed to keep browsing. The guy suddenly turned to her and tried to grab her but she ran faster and made it to me, two aisles over. When the guy saw me, he looked me over to see if he could still get her and then took off out of the store.
She learned an important lesson.
“she noticed that the driver was a black guy but decided that she didn’t want to be thought of as a racist”
Oh, how conscientious of her. If she hadn’t have been so thoughtful, she’d be alive today.
