I had to go look. I knew the Norks couldn't be the only ones...something to do with Communism, maybe? Or ice or barren deserts? ;) Pretty much ALL of India is lit up, as is all of Japan.

Coal will not go back into the ground, the minuscule amount of energy not consumed will simply be diverted to other applications, and hardly a ripple goes out across the power grid.

And besides, not that many people really care, just as long as the power is not interrupted for inconvenient lengths of time.

It’s amazing how every year this happens to coincide with my scheduled ‘electrical stress test’..... but I’m thankful for the reminder. For me, it’s sort of like using Thanksgiving as a reminder to change out the batteries in my smoke and CO2 alarms.
