You've probably never heard of Dave Berger.
President Trump nominated him on March 27 to be the 38th commandant of the Marine Corps. I met him when we were both assigned to Camp Pendleton, and I remember his deep interest in mastering the Corps's tactics, logistics, and weapons systems. From the beginning of his career, he showed a quiet devotion to the Corps's excellence.
His career is filled with aggressive, on-the-ground combat, including leading a regiment at Fallujah and a division in Afghanistan. He is one of America's best and most experienced combat commanders.
The Berger nomination is in contrast to past leadership at the FBI and the CIA. Infamous FBI managers such as James Comey, Andrew McCabe, and Peter Strzok were never devoted to crime-fighting, the fundamental purpose of the FBI. They promoted themselves through building relationships in Washington, D.C. They have never exposed themselves to physical danger.

He’s got as much mission hardware on his chest as a third world dictator.
His first priority better be - get the women out of the combat MOSs.
Will he recognize and support the war on our southern border or repeat the idiocy of a Marine general a week or so ago denying the emergency on the border and saying that Marines were not prepared to defend our border?
Exactly. I want him protecting our POTUS and our border.
Nothing else is really a great priority out there for the military right now.

That Marine General you refer to is the man who LtGen Berger will replace.
That was not a mere ‘Marine general’ last week ,disparaging USMC deployment to the southern border , it was the (then) Commandant of the USMC . Sayonara sucka. The Trump boot hurts , don’t it ?

I’ll give you an example of a Marine hard-ass.
My father served in the USMC in three wars. When I was 16 and wanted to use the family car and go out, my bedroom had to pass inspection. One particular time sticks out in my mind more than any other. I thought I’d actually done a fairly good job, so he came into my room, walked over and opened the closet door, knelt down and ran his fingers over the floor in the closet, and then he looked me straight in the eye, serious and said “did you clean this room?”
If you took every Marine from every base including supply and maintenance depots, boot camps, and troops on ship you could only muster 220,000 troops. That's all there are and you have just stripped America of most of her ready deployment capability.
It's not that there aren't idiot or treasonous Generals. There are. But the story you refer to is another case of globalist media manufacturing a slur after being lectured accurately on the functions of different sectors of the military.
The general in question had an incomplete quote taken out of context.

Difference is, hes actually EARNED it.

The General has merit, the way it should be for any promotion...the need to be qualified for the job.
Looking at the Left's line up of potus wannabees...there is precious little qualification for the job.
