Every year, I write to honor my sister, Terri Schiavo, on March 31st, the anniversary of her death. For those who do not remember, Terri, at the age of 26, experienced a still inexplicable collapse resulting in a severe brain-injury. As a consequence of her brain injury, she was unable to swallow using conventional utensils, and like many Americans required nutrition and hydration by feeding tube in order to live.
Terri did not have a medical directive specifying who would make her health care decisions in the event she was incapable of making them herself. Therefore, it was her husband, Michael Schiavo, who was appointed by the court to be her medical caretaker and was ostensibly the only person who would decide what type of care, if any, Terri would receive.
Initially, my family did not anticipate this would be an issue. But that changed after Michael obtained a million-dollar medical malpractice settlement on Terri and his behalf. Before the settlement, Michael discussed continuing rehabilitation. Afterwards, he tried to deny her antibiotics when Terri came down with a urinary tract infection. But when my family sued, he relented...

Not starved, dehydrated. Happens every day to dementia patients in this country.
Bishop Lynch has much to answer for too.
Her brain was half the weight of normal, there was extensive damage to every area. EEG showed no activity. The CAT scan showed the liquefaction of her brain. The parents selectively edited and posted videos to make it look like she was responsive but it was a hoax to manipulate a nation. I don't like hoaxers now and I didn't care for them then either.
Before this case, I had experience caring for my father in his final years. Among other things he too suffered hydrocephalus ex vacuo, for him due to his history of stroke-caused dementia. It changed him tremendously but it was clear *life* was still there. That's not the case with Terri. In neither case was there any hope of recovery.
The question remains with Terri Schiavo is how she got in that situation to begin with. The autopsy offered no clues. There was no cardiovascular disease, no indication of bulimia, no indication she was choked, etc.
If nothing else this case should serve as a warning to all to make sure their wishes are crystal clear. We were fortunate to have gone through that process with my father so when his time came everyone knew to let him go and be at rest.
Another Freeper and I flew to Florida as this was going on to participate in the vigil/protest. Coincidentally, we were staying in the same hotel as Terris parents and brother. We had dinner together and prayed. I cannot believe it as been 14 years since this horror.
I was hoping for a miracle, but got only hatred from the pro-abortion fanatics. Had the judge died?
No. Starving and dehydrating someone to death is never acceptable, and she had family willing to care for her. Her husband just wanted her dead.

I will never forget that horrible event.
What’s her murdering husband doing now?
Someday - karma’s going to get him.
And yet, their parents got the best medical care money could buy at the end of their lives — no question.
BUMP
I’m calling you pro-death right now based on the post I’m responding to.
I also say you are lying or, more likely, repeating false narrative that you believe.
(This has nothing to do with your father or my father etc...)
“Jeb did try to help but he didnt take that last bold step of bravery to save her. He caved in...”
That’s how I remember it.
He did everything right until the last when push came to shove and backed down.
“Not starved, dehydrated. Happens every day to dementia patients in this country.”
Yes happens everyday. Doctors have code words for it. They push it on families.
Starved and dehydrated, and morphined out.
“Someday - karmas going to get him.”
You mean he’s going to be reincarnated as a plant or something?
What goes around, comes around.
Totally agreed. So is the FAKE OPIOID CRISIS. Many Intractable Pain Patients have become bedridden, wheelchair bound, died of heart attacks, or committed Suicide all Based on a LIE. CDC Director Redfield a Virologist, Andrew Kolodny a SHRINK on the PROP committee LIED about the number of OD’s and Prescriptions. Patients are dying who once held jobs and had a family life are now confined to bed or a wheel chair or commit Suicide.
