So, is he innocent or is he guilty of something?

If he’s innocent why isn’t he getting his bail money back and then just forget about the whole thing?

If he’s guilty when was the trial? I missed it.

Sounds to me like they’re just making him pay protection money.

these kinds of deals are extremely common.

Remember you are innocent until proven guilty.

So... if you strike a deal with the DA to agree to save the state the time and expense of going to trial if you agree to plead no contest and pay a small fine or do some community service and in return your record will be wiped clean on the matter.

This is what happens every time you get a ticket and are allowed to take defensive driving and have the charges dropped. Were you technically guilty, yes. But as far and the law and state are concerned you are innocent.

“If he’s innocent why isn’t he getting his bail money back and then just forget about the whole thing?”

IF he paid a private bail bondsman the standard 10% fee, that money is never refundable by the private bail bondsman; furthermore, the government doesn’t get a penny of it ... fundamentally, the fee is interest on a loan secured by the person’s agreement to show up in court ...

indeed. and it’s all foolish Kabuki Theater because you can’t fine a person who wasn’t convicted of anything, unless that was a condition of the prosecutor’s BS deferred prosecution, which doesn’t seem to be the case ...

That’s how it works in Shitcago...got to pay street tax all the way from hot dog stands up to the ritziest restaurants. All businesses...no one escapes. City learned it from the Mafia only now it’s men with badges who do the collecting.
