Appearing Wednesday on ABC’s Good Morning America, Jussie Smollett attorney Tina Glandian told anchor George Stephanopoulos that the Empire star is mulling a lawsuit against the Chicago Police Department over their handling of his alleged hate hoax case.

Yesterday I posted that Foxx and the Judge probably used an Illinois “first offender initiative” law to allow Smollett to skate. The scenario fit the law - non-violent felony, agreement between DA and judge, community service, surrender of bond and/or court costs, and the record is expunged and the case sealed.
Smollett’s behavior might cause me to re-think this. A civil suit would re-open all the details, which still seem to indicate Smollett is guilty as hell
It could be his lawyers are simply posturing for the media, and pushing their narrative for a couple days to help his reputation before this is buried for good.

Suing the cops for producing damning evidence that you got a DA to suppress and ignore because of politics and forcing them to disclose EVERYTHING in pubic would be a really smart move.
