Ex-Trump campaign aide says FBI wanted him to wear a wire
CBS ^ | Mar 26, 2019 | ERIC TUCKER

A former Trump campaign aide central to the early days of the FBI's Russia investigation said the FBI wanted him to wear a wire to record conversations with a professor who had told him the Russians had dirt on Hillary Clinton.

George Papadopoulos, the first of five Trump aides to plead guilty and agree to cooperate in special counsel Robert Mueller's recently-concluded investigation, told House lawmakers and staff in a closed-door interview last October that he rejected the FBI request.

A transcript of that interview was released Tuesday by the top Republican on the House Judiciary Committee as part of an ongoing effort to sow doubt about the origins of the FBI's investigation into possible coordination between Russia and President Donald Trump's campaign. Mueller ended his investigation last week without finding a criminal conspiracy between Russia and the Trump campaign to affect the 2016 presidential election, according to a Justice Department summary of his findings released Sunday.

Papadopoulos was a vital figure in the early days of the FBI's investigation. The revelation that Papadopoulos had learned in an April 2016 meeting in London that Russia had "dirt" on Democrat Hillary Clinton in the form of thousands of stolen emails helped kick start the FBI probe months later.

Papadopoulos was a low level volunteer working for an advisory committee associated with the Trump campaign.

He was entrapped and told about "dirt" on Clinton. He was then used to go after the Trump campaign and charged with supposedly lying about the date of a meeting. He was pressured into pleading guilty and was a big part of the Mueller investigation.

Sad, but not a surprise.

We have people convicted for lying. The absurd thing about this Russian hoax is truth isn’t even a supreme value for Democrats.

All true. I remember that vicious unethical narcissistic bimbo, Hillary, bragging about how Trump was going to wind up behind bars. I wish I could remember when she said it, but it was during the campaign, and undoubtedly she knew this was all playing out at the time. It would have been smarter for her to remain silent, but she hated Trump so much she just couldn't keep her mouth shut.

More butt-covering by CBS.

We already know what kick-started the investigation. It was all an effort on the part of DOJ and FBI players to defeat or destroy Trump. We have the evidence that proves it, from the emails and texting of some of the players involved.

I’m about halfway through the 238 page Papadopoulous deposition. It’s on Doug Collins’ site.

It’s long, but an interesting read.

I think its pretty obvious he was set up as a patsy.

Why are we just finding this out now? It would’ve been really helpful if we could’ve found this out before the election. Bob Goodlatte failed

Because part of the Mueller scam investigation job in the #RussiaCollusionHoax was to prevent all this information from getting out.

It was widely reported and believed that Papadopoulos wore a wire or was urged to.

Here’s a story from October 2017:

About the only positive to come out of this mess is that it prompted 40 or so worthless RINO types to give up their seats. If somehow Trump can win those seats back (sans the gone for ever vote harvested California seats) in 2020 it will be a tremendous plus. Goodlatte was part of the problem.

Much of this came out last year. The FBI/CIA fed the info to Papadopolis, then when he mentioned it to others, it was evidence of collusion that justified spying on Trump.

Halpers and Mifsud were the classified sources the DOJ fought to keep secret back in May 2018 when the House Republicans (Devin Nunes) subpoenaed documents regarding DOJ spying on the Trump Campaign.

Mifsud does have Russian contacts, but he also has connections with CIA and British Intel, and has disappeared since his role in this scandal was revealed. Not sure if he is hiding from USA or Russian intelligence, or if he is dead. Likely, the latter.

We're finding out now because the Republican party didn't want us to know before. What many fail to take into account is that the GOP never wanted Trump to become the Republican nominee let alone the President.

Think about it. That scandal never should've been who did have hillary's emails. Everyone who wanted them had them. The scandal is that Hillary's email server was so insecure that it was there for the taking.

The collusion that hasn't been addressed is hillary and McCain getting arms and funding to terrorists in Syria.

“...the FBI wanted him to wear a wire to record conversations with a professor who had told him the Russians had dirt on Hillary Clinton.”

This professor actually worked for the FBI/CIA, so it’s pretty obvious that they were playing both ends on this in an attempt to entrap either or both, so they could force them to work against Pres. Trump,

No doubt, Mifsud would have offered to provide Papadopolis with "documents from Russia" that would have likely produced a slam dunk case for collusion. George seems to be a pretty smart guy.

Let me get this straight. Papadopoulos had a meeting with someone who offered information/dirt on Hillary, and because he took the meeting, but didn’t get any dirt, he gets charged with a crime. Hillary, on the other hand, solicits a dossier be created using Russian sources, pays for the dossier, which is 100% unverifiable because its a bunch of lies, gets it into the hands of the FBI so they can spy on the Trump campaign, and Mueller did nothing?
