the EC should stay as is; however, the notion of winner take all in each state, a corrupt practice used to muscle a party machine preferred candidate into nomination, should be made illegal...all states should adopt the Maine/Nebraska model of congressional district voting...
I live in Maine.
Candidate Donald Trump carried Maine’s Second Congressional District.....80% of the state.....by 10 points.....he received one Electoral Vote for doing so.
The wicked witch of the west wing carried Maine’s First Congressional district.....20% of the state of Maine in the southeast corner of the state. More populated, and much more liberal. She received one Electoral vote.
Ms. Rotten Rodham won the popular vote in Maine by 2.9%, because of the more populated and liberal 1st district, which gave her two more EC votes.
Hillary Rotten Criminal starting advertising on TV in August 2016, during the Rio Olympics. Donald Trump didn’t really start until October, and when he did, Hitlery ran far more TV spots.
If Candidate Trump had started earlier, and ran more ads, he could have taken the whole state. IMHO.
I like your idea of the other 48 states adopting Maine and Nebraska’s system of awarding EC votes based on congressional district, especially big states like California and New York.
