Clinton got 59% of the statewide vote, and 79% of the NYC vote. Manhattan and the Bronx were specially strong pro-Hillary with 86% and 88% respectively for the felon
The issue most of us former New Yorkers had was the fact that West Chester County south to NYC and Long Island should be a different state. Generally, upstate NY, especially western NY is more like Ohio and the Midwest. The NYS governor represents the interests of NYC area, not upstate because they know that is where all the votes are.
Take a look at those red/blue county maps of all the recent presidential elections. The cities are blue the rural areas are red with the rare exceptions to some Indian reservations in AZ and NM. Even in Illinois, Chicago is blue and the rest of the state is red. NY state is generally the same way. Even Easter Long Island(the Hamptons) where all the rich NYC people have their weekend homes are RED not Blue. In NY, the Albany area is Blue because of all the people who work for state government. The rest of upstate is red.
