GOOD NEWS! US War Hero – Sgt. Derrick Miller – To Be Released from Leavenworth

For several years The Gateway Pundit has reported on the plight of Sgt. Derrick Miller who sits in prison for life in Leavenworth, Kansas.

Today we are pleased to announce that Sgt. Miller will soon be released from prison!

U.S. Army National Guardsman Sgt. Derrick Miller... from Hagerstown, Maryland, was convicted in July of 2011 for the pre-meditated murder of an Afghan man in 2010.

Sgt. Miller shot and killed an Afghan civilian following the civilian attempting to grab Sgt. Miller’s weapon during a period of intense questioning. The Afghan civilian was a suspected insurgent that was walking through Sgt. Miller’s “platoon defensive perimeter observing their defensive positions”....

Is there any update on a reception for him or a date I may have missed.

I will be in that area about Memorial Day for visit to Arlington Cemetery. I wonder if I could do both?

Sorry it took me so long to reply, 3D-JOY. I had to get a hold of our mutual friend, who is close to Derrick's mom. Here is what I learned:

Derrick's parents are going to go out to Leavenworth to meet him 4th week of May, and are not sure how long the exit process will take and whether they will have to wait another day, etc; so any plans for greeting them at the airport (don't know -- probably Baltimore-Washington) when they return are up in the air.

United American Patriots (UAP), who helped with Sgt Miller's case, wants to hold a reception for him which they will organize. They have not yet announced.

His mother wants to hold a reception for family and close supporters in the Frederick, MD area in the summer.

Both UAP and the family want to wait for Derrick to return home, become acclimatized, and have a say in what arrangements will be made.

Been a Walter Reed volunteer for quite awhile and my respect for our military is through the roof.

To see a member of our military get abused is beyond the pale.

Our President has pardoned another soldier who was wrongly convicted and served time in Leavenworth for killing a suspected al-Qaida. He had more help from his family connections and especially from his State legislators than Derrick Miller has had, but it's a positive thing:
