RUSH: Trump and McCain. This issue continues to expand and grow, and I’m gonna cut through all of the Twitter clutter and give you the nub of what’s going on here. Yesterday in a series of tweets, President Trump told the story of how John McCain screwed over the entire country when he failed to vote to get rid of Obamacare, the repeal and replace of Obamacare. He said that it was a last-minute thing after many promises that he would vote with the White House.
This is Trump telling people that they had assurances upon assurances from Senator McCain that he was gonna vote to repeal and replace Obamacare. Now, Jim Acosta, CNN, found a, quote-unquote, “source” who told him that that wasn’t true. Some former aide to McCain told Acosta that Trump is lying. McCain never promised the White House he was gonna vote to repeal and replace Obamacare. So Acosta’s running this all over Twitter, and — I don’t know — probably put it on the air at CNN, basically saying he’s got a source (an unnamed McCain aide) claiming that Trump is lying about this.
Well, Matt Schlapp and his wife Mercedes… Mercedes is in the communications shop of the White House. Matt Schlapp runs CPAC. At the time, Matt Schlapp was the key White House guy counting votes on this issue. Every president, every White House, every West Wing has a guy that stays in touch with Capitol Hill — a liaison — that keeps the West Wing informed on the status of legislation the White House is interested in, kind of like a presidential whip. Not out there actually whipping votes, but he is the vote-counter.
He’s in touch with the whips. He’s in touch with the Republican leaders in the Senate and the House, and he knows how who is going to vote, and it’s up to him to count the votes, and he reports to the president what the latest is. Matt Schlapp told a reporter that somebody might want to fact-check what Jimmy Acosta is saying, because Matt Schlapp says that what Acosta tweeted isn’t true. Matt Schlapp said, “McCain met with me in my office and pledged to support every version of repeal and replace and said he would lead the charge.
“Everybody was worried he would flip-flop when it mattered, and he did. He did on the flight to Washington.” Schlapp says, “Acosta, I was tracking Senator McCain up until the vote, and everyone was told that he was solid on his vote against Obamacare, but all of us knew that McCain was unpredictable. None of us, including the president, are lying about this.” So Matt Schlapp is putting his reputation out there, assuring Acosta that whoever is talking to him is telling him falsehoods.
That McCain had assured the White House over and over again he was gonna vote to repeal and replace, but that they always knew he could change his mind because he was McCain. So on the flight to Washington is when Schlapp found out McCain had changed his mind (if he was actually ever be truthful with him in the first place) about the intent of his vote. Now, of course this doesn’t satisfy Acosta. Acosta thinks everybody but him is lying and so forth. So given all of this, you can understand why Trump and Matt Schlapp and everybody else in the West Wing would be livid.
McCain, according to them, led them to believe he was a solid vote to repeal and replace Obamacare. He had campaigned on it! He had made a big deal out of how bad he thought Obamacare was. But then he comes in and at the moment of truth, he’s the last vote, gives his famous thumbs down, and kills the repeal. And Trump feels like he was lied to, misled, and what have you. So now there’s all kinds of news stories about the feud between Trump and McCain.
Washington Post: “‘The McCain Family Deserves Better,’ Republican Senator Says as Trump Continues to Lash Out.” “The McCain Family Deserves Better.” From TheHill.com: “Anderson Cooper Blasts Trump Over McCain Attacks: ‘He’s Punching a Person Who is Dead.‘” This is from CNN, by the way, running and promoting a documentary called Tricky Dick. Do you know why they’re doing that? Do you know what MSNBC is doing? (interruption)
Snerdley, you may not know this. Do you know that MSNBC on Saturday and Sunday — like from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. — is running never-ending repeats of All the President’s Men? (interruption) Oh, yeah. They’re running the movie of how Woodward and Bernstein got rid of Nixon. They run this so that their audience can get set up for the impeachment of Trump, and now CNN has got this series called Tricky Dick, which is designed to get their audience prepared and set up for the impeachment of Trump.
Romney has knocked Trump over his McCain criticism. (impression) “How dare you criticize an American war hero who died? How dare you do this?” and then, not to be outdone, James Clyburn of the Congressional Black Caucasians has chimed in that “Trump and His Family Are ‘Greatest Threats to Democracy of My Lifetime.’” Trump and his family are the modern incarnation of — wait for it — Adolf Hitler.
Well here it is. The media is trying to say that Trump lied about McCain promising to vote for repeal on on Obamcare. How else is the president supposed ot get the truth out, when all the media picks up and carries the lie?
Did anyone see what Kellyanne said about Trump tweets about her husband yesterday?
Over the last 30 years no matter who you voted for eventually you got John McCain.
“”You think he shouldnt respond when somebody, a non-medical professional accuses him of having a mental disorder?” Kellyanne Conway told Politico. “You think he should just take that sitting down?””
Jim Acosta is still playing his assigned role in a treasonous plot. Man should be in Guantanamo.
1. Fake Dossier
2. Keating Five Scandal
3. Obamacare
Plenty of substantive reasons to have hated this man. He was a low-class lout.
Dossier John
You think he shouldnt respond when somebody, a non-medical professional accuses him of having a mental disorder? Kellyanne Conway told Politico. You think he should just take that sitting down?
Real women are most comfortable with real men.
You’re missing the big one. That would be his providing arms and support for terrorists in Syria. I do hope President Trump releases aspects of that SOON. (like today...President Trump is sometimes a little slow about getting information out there and also saying he’ll do something when he should’ve just done it)
John McCain was an ill tempered, petty, angry, sanctimonious, bitter, thin skinned, smarmy, bully. He treated the last 2 Republican Presidents like trash while never saying a bad thing about Obama. He became the problem that is Washington DC. He was a career 37 year politician. He was part of the cancer killing the average American. He also was the Hanoi Songbird. Hell only be missed by family and a few others,
Overrated Pilot - Overrated POW(Other Hanoi Hilton prisoners were awarded MOH. Not the Songbird) - Overrated Politician who did nothing to MAGA.
Keating Five Scandal
He should never have been reelected a senator unless from prison given what happened there. BTW during the scandal whom was his attorney? John Dowd, name sound familiar??
Did anyone see what Kellyanne said about Trump tweets about her husband yesterdayWhat does that have to do with McCain?
Is there some secret reason you can't post a link to what she said?
You've been here 15 years and can't post a link?
“Overrated POW(Other Hanoi Hilton prisoners were awarded MOH. Not the Songbird)”
McCain’s cell mate, Bud Day, was given the Medal of Honor. Although he strongly disagreed with McCain’s politics, he always said McCain acted with great courage as a POW.
I voted against McCain on his last Senate run. I despise the man and believe Trump has good cause to despise him as well. He was an evil man. As best I can tell, his widow isn’t any better.
7 Vietnam War POWs received the Medal of Honor. One was for a flight a few weeks before he was shot down (Leo Thorsness). 3 died. Only 3 survived and received a MoH for their time in captivity. One was McCain’s cell mate. I’ll take Bud Day’s word for what happened in the Hanoi Hilton.
As I have said elsewhere the whole Trump/McCain thing goes back, in my mind to the simple fact..
In 2008 McCain came to Trump asking for his support and money... Trump gave it.
When Trump entered the race in 2016, McCain not only failed to support Trump but actively worked to beat him.
This was long before the whole “he’s not a hero” incident.
That was the start of the Feud.. and McCain went all out Petty from that point on as far as I can tell...
Personally I don’t give a damn about the Trump/McCain feud. McCain clearly betrayed his word on Obamacare for petty personal reasons, an showed himself to be petty once more with the whole dossier stuff.
He was a human being like all of us. I am not going to sit here and bash McCain, or bash Trump. Both of their behaviors in this regard are less than exemplary. This whole business is white noise as far as I’m concerned.
Well you see the same whining about Mccain and Mr. Kellyanne Conway; “Trump shouldn’t be distracted, it’s beneath the presidency, blah blah blah.”

She should seriously just go ahead and file the divorce papers. By abusing Trump, the rancid tub of lard is indirectly abusing hie wife and, through their witness of the fracas, their kids.
You must have missed post 6...
