One can spend several days trying not to overreact to President Trump’s latest, unprovoked tweetstorm against the late Sen. John McCain R-Ariz., yet still conclude that there is something sick and twisted about Trump’s obsession with the singular American hero Trump disparages.
Tom Rogan already in these pages has eloquently explained why, fake heel spurs or no fake heel spurs, Trump could never be fit to wear McCain’s discarded shoes. And lawyer George Conway, husband of top Trump aide Kellyanne Conway, has presented a persuasive case that Trump’s fulminations about McCain and other bizarre eruptions are signs of a personality disorder.
What remains, though, is a reminder that on facts as well as fulminations, Trump’s flip-out against McCain is full of falsehoods.
First, as many others have noted, Trump repeatedly accused McCain of trying to spread the so-called “Steele dossier” as a way to block Trump’s election, but the undisputed evidence shows McCain didn’t even become aware of the dossier until after Election Day. (Plus, McCain did exactly what a senator should do when provided such material: He turned it over to the FBI, without prejudice. But that’s beside the point about Trump’s dishonesty.)
What has not been as adequately refuted is Trump’s allegation that McCain voted against a bill to “repeal and replace” Obamacare, and that McCain’s vote was a big surprise. Neither element of that story is true.
First, by the time a healthcare bill finally reached a vote in the Senate, it was in no way, shape or form a “repeal and replace” bill. In reality, it was a shell of a bill known as “skinny repeal,” which did next to nothing other than keep...

Long before Trump was even on the political radar, I said that I wished that whatever was eating McCain’s head would hurry up and finish the job.
His grave should be considered to be a wetland because of all the people wanting ti urinate upon it. His vote on not repealing obamacare was not a getback at President Trump. It was a FU to the American people. He figuratively took a crap on every American.

My point is simple. Sometimes politics is perception. I bet the majority of the country outside of our little utopia here thinks McCain was great. Slamming him after he’s dead looks bad. Whether its justified or not really doesn’t matter.
It is the media that loves the McCain topic. Just like the cages. Topic.
I don’t think President Trump lied about McCain. The truth about McCain is bad enough that there is no need to lie. The GOPe types are really pitching a fit over perceived posthumous disrespect of their scummy, treasonous hero.
For so many years didn’t feel like no matter who you voted for eventually you got John McCain.
Well, McCain was a Democrat. He never did a conservative thing in is his life as a Pol and I’m at a loss how he kept winning elections.

Many of his fellow POWs despise him. I wish Trump would hold a press conference with several of these Heroes who DIDN’T cooperate with the Vietnamese. They have been willing to go public in the past.
Ross Perot hated McCain for the same reason.
And I wish Trump would release all the info on McCain concerning the decision not to court-martial McCain for treason. He wanted the rank of Admiral handed to him like every other rank was handed to him. He was told he could accept the rank of Captain and quietly retire or be court-martialed. He retired but not quietly. He got into politics.
The man has been a fraud his entire life.
