SESEME STREET has padded the pockets of HOLLYWOOD STARS, MSM, and LIBERAL PUNDITS via "CELEBRITY GUESTS". Read the roster of those who hobnobbed with BIG BIRD, BERT & ERNIE, and the rest of their furry friends. Who fitted the bill? AMERICAN TAXPAYERS.

Over 700 guest stars and celebrities have appeared in episodes of Sesame Street. See also: guests appearing in Sesame Street specials, Sesame Street home video, and online content (which have not been tallied here, but cumulatively include 896 Sesame Street guests).

Excellent.

Hopefully, most will disappear from the airwaves within a short period of time.

Big Bird needs to get a job. (I wish he’d tweet that.)

Not much point in it. The Congress will trash this budget. . .

I'm amazed you don't get it. He's raising the issue and showing what side he's on--which is another rallying point for American voters. Who for the most part don't want to pay for that snowflake, hate-America broadcast and culture industry. He's doing this so that non-swamp Congressional candidates get a few points' advantage in next year's primaries, and he gets a few more points in the general election.

Great! Also stop the funding to the universities until they fall inline with American VALUES

And the liberals charged that Romney wanted to kill Big Bird?

I remember that charge. In reality, Big Bird's capitalistic side brings in tons of dollars, as do other Sesame Street characters. It is more than enough money to offset the federal contributions.

I’m in. The government needs to get out of the propaganda business.

It might happen if the GGP retakes the House in 2020 and keeps the Senate. Even in that case, we know that members voting to fund these dinosaurs get kickbacks in donations just as they do with Planned Parenthood.

There is absolutely no reason for taxpayer funds to be used to pay for this mess. Back when PBS and NPR were created, there were few alternatives to Big Three broadcast channels - now we have prob. 1000 cable, Netflix, Hulu, etc. What we are doing is subsidizing overpaid employees, leftist invective, and programming you can easily find elsewhere.

I'm actually a fan of PBS, to a great extent. But it can certainly pay for itself and still be a breed apart from commercial television. It can also keep the annual "Festival" pledge drives going (which I also wouldn't mind if nothing else than for the hot babes they always seem to employ at the local affiliates when they come on camera begging for money...)

It has been probably five years or so since I have seen my local PBS affiliate's fundraisers, but "hot babes" were definitely NOT part of pledge week. I suppose cheesecake could make some of us actually pay attention to the... uh... tote bags. If anything, the females tended to look like frumpy, middle-aged teachers attending an NEA convention.

(Not that there is anything wrong with that...)

Other than old Britcom reruns and Red Green, there was little incentive for me to watch PBS after they stopped running things like "World At War."

Excellent news! The American taxpayer shouldn't bear the cost of maintaining an extreme far left propaganda organ aimed at undermining America.

Cut the purse strings. Let the occasional-corteces of the world buy tote bags if they want to fund it.

PBS’s programs are behind a pay wall on Amazon.

WTH should the CPB get taxpayer money?!

No matter the logic, the DC establishment gets members to vote themselves money in a circle. They vote for these things and get donations back, so in effect, they vote themselves money.

This has been going on for decades, e.g. PP, Ex-Im Bank. DC politically connected persons have known about it and kept it in a box in pieces as if their votes and the donations received were not connected.

Now it’s getting out to the public but is still at a noise level distraction. If it gets more volume, people won’t know what to do about it except get angry. Electing new members is not a solution as they are brought to heel to the power politics of DC.

An independent solution to this corruption is taking place by the process named in my tagline. DC will never fix itself.

My dad refused to have Sesame Street on our TV when it first started. He’d only seen a couple of shows, but had an inkling where it was headed. I don’t think I ever saw one show, ever.

All very true; someone pointed out that Paul Ryan as Speaker really differed very little from Pelosi. About the only Trump initiative he pushed for was the tax cut and part of that benefitted his wealthy and corporate contributors. He had no interest in getting rid of PBS/NPR subsidies when he had the majority and power to do so. He had to reach across the aisle and into us taxpayers’ pockets.
