The American operator of a controversial website has smacked down a request by New Zealand police to hand over posts and video links that appeared on the site as the Christchurch terrorist attack unfolded.
In an obscenity-laden email, Kiwi Farms founder Joshua Moon dismissed the plea by Detective Senior Sergeant John Michael as a joke, labelling New Zealand a small, irrelevant island nation and s***hole country.
Moon is a former administrator of 8chan, the online message board where Brenton Tarrant posted details of his sick plan, along with a 73-page manifesto, hours before allegedly carrying out New Zealands deadliest terrorist attack.

I don’t think NZ is a sh*thole country.
Yet.
But they should remember that the coefficient of sh*tholeness is directly proportional to the percentage of population adhering to the “religion of hate, pillage, and reverse progress”.
“Because Facebook immediately cooperated with New Zealand, and removed 1.5 million posts...”
That’s mighty nice of Facebook...until the NEXT time some mental case live videos HIS/HER murderous rampage via Facebook.
:: Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.[1] ::
You must be confused. I don’t see the word “snowflake” in the 1st Amendment
I seen that yesterday. It didn’t take long for them to go running to the media after the ‘detective’ got a reply to his request. LOL
It sounds like the NZ cops know they don’t have any jurisdiction to make them cooperate.
” Could you please advise what legal process you require for this request and also confirm preservation of the data requested pending legal process.
Kind regards”
Well I am pretty sure livestraming mass murder is against their TOS so they’re really just policing themselves.
I don’t believe in ‘Terms of Service’ or ‘ownership’ by the large social media corporate holders ... being allowed to trump Free Speech.
Although I do realize that these corporate social media sites have used the current law to enforce that position ... I think laws need to be made, here in the USA, surrounding the First Amendment in making it so that these large social media sites be declared (by new legislation) to be free speech zones (the equivalent in the ‘online world’ of the public space in the real world) and fully protected under the First Amendment.
This needs to change in the USA bring the First Amendment in line with the realities of online public discourse in our country.
“Eh,,,though he was under no obligation to do so, he could have been a tad nicer about it.
Sounds like an over the top nut case...a simple no and some explanation would have been sufficient.”
Sometimes “F*** OFF!!!” is all the explanation they deserve.
‘...labeling New Zealand a small, irrelevant island nation and s***hole country.....’
Uh... I’ve always heard it’s pretty nice there...
Facebook and twitter play this game all the time.
And since they are Both US Based Companies, they should be SHUTDOWN for Discrimination.
Well, maybe if you’re talking about scenery ... but not if you’re jailed for 14 years for posting a video they say you shouldn’t have. There is a guy in jail already, for posting that shooting video, and he has been denied bail. The authorities have got him ‘on the hook’ for 14 years in jail.
