Excuse my ignorance. Is THAD manned by US soldiers in Israel?

yes the US moved a full THAD battery to Israel a week or so ago to link up with Israeli systems. The significance of the full battery is that usually only one unit is moved - this is because Iran and its proxies are getting ready to attempt to take the Golan and Iran will launch missiles from its territory or its bases in Iraq - which has denied US troops entry.
The battery is likely stationed at the US “radar” base in the Negev.
THAAD: Terminal High Altitude Area Defense. It’s an anti-ballistic missile system. It goes after targets in descent or re-entry. Hit-to-kill, no explosives.
