I think it is well-written. I am sure you know that Lamar is and always was a RINO; but by saying that you actually believed in him in one time (even if not true) shows that his vote is a disappointment and that he let you down. People need to be reminded when they let down people who once (claimed to, anyway) believed in them.
It is a fact I voted for him for governor and senator.
I did vote for him for governor in the 1970s, and for senator several times when I lived in Tennessee.
