I had similar thoughts. I was thinking that if this goes to trial — which I doubt — all Lin Wood would have to do is ask the jurors how they would feel if their own kids were in the shoes of Sandmann. I figured that if I were one of the jurors I’d award him $250K to start with, and then an extra few billion on General Principles.
The boy’s eyes weren’t even looking in the direction of the Indian (although nobody ever makes that point). He was looking straight ahead of him, showing complete restraint. And yet he was destroyed by the evildoers.
Good for Nick, but I am more interested in establishing precedent for future victims. These a-holes have been ruining lives to further their political agenda for way too long. A huge settlement might temper their impulses and force them to fire their flamethrowers.
